So, the [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange has gone live - well, is going live, but since both the story I wrote and the story written for me has been posted, I thought I'd mention it.

The story written for me is a lovely Highlander / Sherlock crossover by the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] sentientcitizen called The Adventure of the Improbable Lovers. It's lovely, with Sherlock investigating one of Amanda's thefts and with an absolutely adorable scene, where Sherlock practically gives poor John a heart-attack by shooting Duncan. It's fun and if you like Sherlock, you should totally read it.

The story I wrote is a Stargate: Atlantis / Supernatural crossover called The Origin of Theobroma, written for [livejournal.com profile] ladyyueh, and it's mostly about Gabriel seducing Rodney with chocolate. It's my first-ever foray into the Stargate verse, so please bear with me. Anyway, I'll probably get around to actually posting that in my LJ once the excxhange fics are all released... probably. If I remember.

Does anybody have time to do a very quick beta on a fic? Crossover, Supernatural / Stargate Atlantis, about 4300 words? Please?

I seriously need to get this procrastination under control...

So, the [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange  is back in town. If you like crossover fanfic, you should definitely check it out. It's fun. Very fun. Last year it produced a lot of awesome fic and hopefully this year will see even more. It's live-action fandom only - movies and television series - simply to keep it manageable, but there's still so much. Which reminds me, would people please go here and vote for Sherlock? Because that tiny little series needs more love and I want to put a Sherlock/John/Gabriel prompt on my wishlist, so I need to be sure it gets enough votes to get in. Please?

Actually, I was a bit confused at first, since this year there's apparently both the [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange  and the [livejournal.com profile] xoverexchange . I considered signing up for both, then decided to stick with the one that already works - besides, the second one's got a very limited selection and half the fandoms are the sort that, well, I've got this dislike of crossovers between canons with contradictory cosmologies, so to speak. Like, say, one fandom says vampires are awesome, sparkly, stalkery and another says that vampires are demon-possessed corpses, then I don't buy it. For instance. Weaving together close-but-not-quite-the-same is a fine art and all due respect to those who do it well, but apart from dimension hopping - which I mostly find boring - I just don't buy the more blatantly contradictory ones.

Anyway, clever, awesome people on my flist who like crossovers, go take a look.

The year started with an angsty little sparrington crossover between PotC and Sandman entitled Sweet Dreams are Made of This. Then followed a PotC future!AU - also sparrington - The Very Model of a Modern Librarian (a fic which had not one, but two awesome remixes done in the remixredux). Later came another crossover, this time involving PotC and Good Omens entitled In Living Colour and involving Norrington encountering certain - colourful personalities.

Also, this year I wrote a teeny-tiny original ficlet - Apocalypse in Red and Black. Beware of the ladybug apocalypse - bwahahaha!

Finally, I participated in three fic challenges / exchanges this year. First was the already mentioned remixredux, where I offered a remix entitled Fragments of: Some Autobiographical Notes by a Counterfeit Governess (the Picaresque Remix) - a remix of a PotC fanfic focused on an OC. Second came the xover_exchange, which was great fun - I wrote a Pushing Daisies / Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog crossover entitled Resurrection Pie and received a lovely little BtVS / Dr. Horrible crossover in return. Finally, I participated in yuletide, where I wrote a story for Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere focused on Hunter entitled Headstone - the story I got was an absolutely awesome crossover between New Amsterdam and Torchwood.

The story I wrote for the [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange has been posted - just in case anyone's interested. Actually, people should go over and read - there's quite a few cool fics.

So, that story I'm writing for the [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange, well, my procrastination tendencies has kind of ganged up with RL and gotten the better of me, so...

I expect to be have a first draft done sometime tomorrow. Would someone be ready, willing and able to do a fast beta-read of a Pushing Daisies / Dr Horrible crossover? (It's of course a plus if said someone knows the fandoms, but it's not compulsory). Please? Kind of racing a deadline and the rules of the exchange is that all stories have to be beta'ed, so I'd be extremely grateful if there's somebody willing.

Beginning to think I have a workable idea for the [profile] xover_exchange - I liked my first idea better, but it involved a vetoed character, so that'll just have to go elsewhere. Maybe I'll write it anyway...

Anyway, have idea, need to start getting around to writing. Also, I'm going to be needing a beta at some point. Anybody think they'll have the time at some point during november to look over a Dr. Horrible / Pushing Daisies story?

I'm currently considering signing up for[info]xover_exchange, mostly because I quite like crossovers and I'm beginning to like fic exchanges. However, there is this weird nominate/vote for potential fandoms thing, and so far I'm pretty sure I'm the only vote for PotC, which is a bit sad, if you ask me. Think any of you flist-people might be interested in playing or at least voting?

Also, completely unrelated : Why the FUCK?! is 9 apparently not coming in Danish cinemas???  (Yes, I'm allowed to curse - delays is one thing, not showing it at all?! Unacceptable.) Oh well, guess I'll just have to go watch that movie the Queen's been making instead, and of course the second Lisbeth Salander movie is out this weekend, but still, they can't be serious. Can they?
