Hans Christian Andersen - oh, and Chinese Opera
So, it is the 2. of April, as I am sure you have all noticed.
What that means is that 200 years ago in the town of Odense a baby was born - who just happened to grow up to be Hans Christian Andersen, fairytale writer extraordinary - and so far this year the whole country has been so obsessed with this that while I sincerely hope that the celebrations today will be the last of it (because trust me, I have a high tolerance level for this sort of thing, and I am very, very close to being sick of it), then my hope is not realistic. Speaking of celebrations, I actually would have liked to have gone to see the big show in Parken tonight - especially because there is supposed to be an appearence by Jean Michel Jarre - but even the cheapest tickets were far too expensive, so I´ll just have to watch it on tv, which isn´t the same...
On a completely unrelated note, I just read in the local newspaper that they are doing a Chinese Opera version of Hamlet down at Kronborg this summer - remind me to get a ticket for that. (I like the strange Hamlets - so much more fun that the more ordinary versions...)
