So, I've been playing around with my new camera at various times when I remembered that I have a new camera (occasionally, I forget, you see) and, well, I can safely say that it's a good thing I have not chosen photographer for a career, because my talents clearly lie elsewhere. Still, I might as well post them, partly because I did have that photo meme thing in the back of my mind a couple of times, though not too often, I'm afraid. Anyway...

So, let's begin. Let me see - oh, yes. [livejournal.com profile] black_claw mentioned something about skylines - now, the problem here is that Elsinore doesn't really have much of one - or at least no really good places to get an overview of them. We do have the Northern Pier, which gives a nice view of downtown, though.

Of course, that could have been better... So, next - hmm, [livejournal.com profile] hils talked about places of historical interest. In Elsinore, that would be Kronborg Castle.

I'm sure you've heard of it - probably in connection with this pair:

Their initials are H and O in case you need help in figuring out who they are. Of course, Elsinore actually has two castles - the second one being Marienlyst Castle:

Not terribly big, as you see - though the garden is quite beautiful in the summer. And maybe someone would care to guess at which windows are painted on? H (from above, you remember) has a grave in the area behind the castle, but seriously, these days it's a waste of time. The old tourist-trap monument is gone and what's left... seriously, a waste of time.

Right, and [livejournal.com profile] drbillbongo wanted something nautical.

Nautical enough? And since she also suggested a picture of me, well...

And no comments, please - I'm the one who has to live with one of these on my driver's license...

To add to the general randomness, every autumn Elsinore has a culture night, and this year I went down to see and hear Helsingør Sømandsforening (the Elsinore Sailor's Society, I guess it would be called) shanty choir at the old shipyard.

Not exactly picturesque, but what the Hell - they were entertaining...

And then a baby was born, and they saluted down at Kronborg. You see, they have cannons.

Which I got pretty bored waiting for them to fire, so I took a picture of Sweden while I waited...

And they fired, and I regret only two things - that I got no pictures of the actual muzzle flash, and that I had not brought something to protect my poor ears from the noise. Those things are loud.

And yes, I know - this is a hardly the most interesting collection of pictures. But they are mine. And who cares anyway - I got a memorycard for the camera for my birthday, so now I can really go out and play with it. But what to photograph - hmm, decisions, decisions...

And thanks for showing me your driver's license photos! Hardly anyone posts pics of themselves on lj and I think that's a shame! *hugs you* And you're cute! Your photo looks MUCH better than the old one I had on my passport - so stop complaining! :D
