I can't help feeling a bit sorry for Google. Apparently they seem to think that you can somehow control the evolution of words... personally, I'll just keep on googling. Fever letters involved, for one thing. Reminds me of a while back, when someone down in EU felt that the words "Islamic terrorism" was politically incorrect and should be replaced. Fair enough. Only problem is that their proposed replacement is three or four times as long, and a lot more difficult to actually remember.

Ah well, I think I'll just stop thinking...

Well, that would certainly make things interesting. For one thing, I think they would need to redesign keyboards to make a key for that trademark symbol thingie, since it would be seeing a lot more use...

That reminds me of a thing the Farmer said to me yesterday. Apparently, Google wants to prevent that the neologistic verb "to google" becomes a proper word, because then, they don't get any credit for it. You can't put a copyright on verbs, after all. ;)

They're too late, anyway. "To google" - the verb - was added to the Oxford English Dictionary earlier this year. So it's all official and everything. I wonder if we were supposed to send presents... ;-)

I believe the verb "to xerox" would also need a trademark added... and of course, once it has begun, it will be impossible to stop ;-)

And we have the verb flexen™. Which means using an angle grinder.
