Right, so, after posting the weird laws list yesterday, I went looking for more. And more and more. Apparently people are weird all over the world. Very weird. And then I found a website with dumb, strange, silly and just plain weird laws organized after country and one of the countries was Denmark. How could I resist?

Before starting your car you are required to check lights, brakes, steering and honk your horn. Mind you, I don't think anybody actually does that, not even when taking their driver's licence.

If your vehicle stalls and you leave it on the side of the road, you must mark the vehicle with a red, reflecting triangle. Why is this strange?

If a horse drawn carriage is trying to pass a car and the horse becomes uneasy, the owner of the car is required to pull over and if necessary, cover the car. How often does a car drive slow enough for a horse drawn carriage to try to pass it, anyway?

Attempt to escape from prison is not illegal, however, if one he is caught he is required to serve out the remainder of his term.

No one may start a car while someone is underneath the vehicle.

Encrypting data files, owning, distributing etc. I am assuming they meant to continue this...

Headlights must be on whenever a vehicle is being operated in order to distinguish it from parked cars.

When driving, you must have someone in front of your car with a flag to warn horse drawn carriages that a motorcar is coming. Okay, so, I went looking for this law and I can't find it. Searched the laws I could find about traffic and maybe I missed, but I couldn't find it (found a law against riding while drunk, though). That said, I've heard about it in documentaries about the dawn of the age of cars, but I always assumed it has just been replaced by newer laws...

Any carport added to a building increases the value of the building by 15.

There is a penalty of 20kr for not reporting when a person has died. Which reminds me that I'll be wanting one of the new 20kr coins with the frigat Jylland on. And I am not going to not report anybody dead, so there will be no reason for me not to keep it :-)

Persons may not wear a mask.

A fee is levied on each purchaser of any plastic bottle which is returned upon return of the bottle.

One may not be charged for food at an inn unless that person, by his or her own opinion, is "full".

Restaurants may not charge for water unless it is accompanied by another item such as ice or a lemon slice.

So, in conclusion, apparently Danish traffic laws seem to be weird to others. Of course, most of this list left me wondering if other people really think this is weird, because, well, I mostly don't see it.
