Imagine this: Jack Davenport - dressed like someone out of a Jane Austen novel, sitting in what looks like a very comfortable chair, his back to a roaring, cozy fire, pretending to be a certain Henry Austen, telling some unseen and unheard journalist about his dear younger sister Jane and her problems with publishers too foolish to realize what a wonderful writer she is. Just watched The Real Jane Austen (courtesy of Swedish television) and have concluded that Jack Davenport needs to be in some Austen-movies (Can you imagine him as Mr. Darcy? Or one of all those other gentlemen?) :-)
Swedish television tends to be nice to me, as does Norwegian. Danish televison, on the other hand, is just plain mean. I am not sure how to explain the difference - the Danish channels seem to always have reruns of series that I am either indifferent too or have seen enough, movies that I didn“t want to waste my time on the first time they sent them (let alone the 117th time) and sport - always sport. Sweden, on the other hand, offers a lovely little program with Jack Davenport, and Norway has recently provided me with an opportunity to watch Benny and Joon with Johnny Depp in an absolutely lovely part.
Or maybe it is just that I usually watch the Danish channels and only turn to the other countries“ channels when the offerings are interesting?
