Christmas has been nice. Quiet and pretty non-eventful, but nice. Food was good - very good. Duck, roast pork, caramelized potatoes, risalamande - you know, the usual. Family was nice. It was nice and hyggeligt. Not anything particularly grand or memorable this year, but okay.

This year's harvest was okay too: A new pair of speakers for my computer, the Transformers movie on dvd, some books by Neil Gaiman, a gift certificate for a book store, some other stuff - oh, and the book about Crazy Christmas Cabaret (you know, the thing I tend to make a post once a year squeeing about?).

To sum up: Christmas was nice. In a very relaxed way. I can live with that.

That sounds incredibly yummy. What is risalamande?

I love how every country has special Christmas dinner traditions. :D (Only my family doesn't go with the German tradition. We always have Russian Eggs for Christmas. XD)

Glad you had a nice Christmas! :)

That sounds incredibly yummy.
Oh, trust me. It is. :-)

What is risalamande?
Risalamande is a form of rice pudding involving whipped cream, vanilla and almonds, served with hot cherry sauce. It's the traditional dessert on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, by the time people get to dessert, they will probably already have eaten a bit too much of all the yummy food, so the main reason to dig into the dessert is the hope of being the one to find the one whole almond and thus win a small extra present (and that someone is never me - ah well).

Oooh! That sounds interesting - as well as yummy! :D
And I know ALL about having eaten so much of the main courses and therefore being too full to eat dessert. XD Almost happened to me again this year. ;)

By the way, I love it when things are hidden in puddings or cakes and the people who find them get an extra prize! We don't have anything like that here (other than putting mustard into a couple of Danishs for carnival, but the ones who get the mustard-filled ones don't get any prizes, just a good laugh).
