I was being lazy, zapping through television channels and wound up doing a double take when I caught the very end of a youth program called Spam on DR. After all, it's not every day you hear the word "fan fiction" on national television. So I found the program online and watched it. It's not much, really - they tell what fan fiction is and had a 14-year-old fan fiction writer in the studio for an interview. Also, they had Jakob Stegelmann (if you're a Dane and a bit of a geek, you probably know who he is) reading a couple of bits of her stories. They did mention slash, had even found some old Kirk/Spock fanzines, but their interviewed writer was pretty much a gen purist - I wanted to laugh when she talked about how sex and fantasy shouldn't mix. What kind of a 14-year-old is she? I mean, seriously, if the girls of today are seducing politicians at 15, then how can a 14-year-old be that - naive, is that the right word?
Anyway, while I might not agree with this particular girl, then it's always kind of nice to spot something about fan fiction in this tiny little country...
