I know I've not been terribly good at remembering to post even the reading meme posts lately, so I thought I'd do a general sort of post today.

Summer has struck again. I had a couple weeks of vacation from work, where summer decided to be mean and lower the temperatures a bit and it was more windy and cloudy - now I'm back at work monday to friday and guess what happens. Anyway, it was a nice vacation anyway. I went to Malmö and caught my Mewtwo, I went to see the Røde Orm play out by the amusement park Bakken (maybe I went a bit early to ride a rollercoaster and eat dinner before the play - maybe), which was fun - the stage was this huge viking ship with a fire-breathing dragon head, there were giant ravens cavorting above the stage, and the costumes of the vikings were very clearly inspired by Marvel, while the English court looked like something out of the Valiant comic. It was fun and full of battles and adventures, as it should be.

As some of you may know, the bank downstairs from my apartment - well, it didn't close, just shrank, so it's no longer downstairs. The new tenant, a fancy sushi restaurant, finally opened last week and has so far proven a far quieter neighbour than the people in the preceding weeks working to get the restaurant open. Hopefully that'll keep up.

I'm still playing Pokemon Go. If you want me to friend you there, feel free to leave a comment with your code.

Oh, if you have the sleightest bit of love for heist stories, you should read this article about real life Venetian gentleman thief Vincenzo Pipino. He absolutely did not at one point steal a painting right out of the Doge Palace. As for later recovering said painting from a mafioso, having to steal it back from a tiger-filled shed - probably hearsay. Probably.

I was also reading that HBO has ordered a Norwegian sf series called Beforeigners, set in a world where groups of time displaced people from various past periods have mysteriously turned up in the present, and where a Viking woman is supposed to team up with a modern police officer. Basically, it's right up my alley: my favourite sort of time travel story (past to present), one of my favourite historical periods. It's a comedy, which is always a genre that leaves me worried, but it's by the people behind Lilyhammer, so I am permitting myself to be cautiously hopeful that I won't have to give up watching halfway through the first episode, the way I had to with the Vikings parody show.
