Gabriel might be a mostly-friendly kind of fellow, but he can literally reshape reality whenever he feels like it - besides, when crossing SPN and Stargate, I can't help but assume that the reason the various aliens stopped hanging around Earth had a lot to do with the real pagan gods kicking them out - not that you'll ever get the Goa'uld or similar to admit that.
That said, I think this fic would have worked better from the SG-1 team's POV - chasing what they assume is a Goa'uld possessing mild-mannered family man Jimmy Novak and coming face to face with something that undermines quite a few assumptions about how the world works - rather than just Team Free Will having a weird encounter. :-(
