Oh my gosh... Saw them in firesignwriter's journal (linked), but didn't dare to comment because the actual entry was about some kind of abortion discussion and I guess I didn't understand anything of that. *blushes*
But thank God you also wrote about it! OMG, those guys are really hot. But why is everything I can think about while watching them: "How gorgeous it would be to slash them!" ?? I guess this fandom drives me crazy. ;)
Well, it´s just that my increased interest in slash and the age of sail has influenced my choice of literature recently - how about a book called "Sodomy and the Perception of Evil" by one B.R. Burg, a serious (though critizised) book about, well, about how all pirates were sodomites. Or Susan Gabaldon´s "Lord John and the Private Matter" - a mystery were the detective is a homosexual in the early 18th century London. Or the wonderful manga series "Fake". Though personally I think the prize goes to "Love letters between a certain late nobleman and the famous Mr. Wilson discovering the true history of the rise and surprising grandeur of that celebrated beau", a book originally published in 1723, which claims to be the actual love letters between a couple of men - it has it all: cross dressing, secrecy, plots, threat of exposure, jealousi - even bashing the potential female love-interest (sounds like something you´ve encountered before? Like, say, in PotC slash fandom?)
