I'm considering whether it might be fun to go see Robin Hood in Ulvedalene this summer... (I also took a look at this year's Viking Play at Frederikssund, but it doesn't sound that interesting - though I think I'd rather like to see the Viking Play some year. Just, not this one, I think. It's a bit far to go for "doesn't sound that interesting".)

The actors and the description are throwing me off completely -- it's set up as if it's this grand thing, but something about it makes me think it's... silly.

I saw the viking play at Frederikssund one year (7 years ago? yikes!), and was not impressed. The acting was okay, but the writing was pretty poor. Granted, it's been a while.

Friar Tuck looks terrifying. DNW.

It's a different kind of amateur theater, also. I'm used to musicals, which are a whole different mood -- and can't be bungled in quite the same way, because the script is at least decent.

Outdoor plays are a must for summer! What's Kronborg setting up?

That guy has like one setting, and that setting is "drunk creeper".

Aww, King Lear is the play I read in 12th grade. "Now, gods, stand up for bastards!" No version of The Merchant of Venice is worth watching if it doesn't have Ralph Fiennes and Jeremy Irons making out :P

I think TBL is ruining it for me, too - it's like he's doing a different play, like AR was doing a different movie in RH:PoT.

Oh, and RH is ruining it, too, wth is with his get-up!?

ETA: Og hedder hun ikke Marion på dansk? *Bitch, bitch, bitch*.

Huh, it's true he totally was, but I kind of loved his performance.

Right now I can't remember if Marion is the DK version, or if it's the DK Disney version? But you might very well be right!

Tights were good enough for Errol Flynn, and they're good enough for me!

Argh, got lost on Wikipedia again. In short, her name is influenced by a French character, whose name was spelled Marion. I'm not sure I trust that the online transcriptions of the earliest ballads mentioning her don't use normalized spelling, so I'd have to see facsimiles to confirm that she is spelled Marian - though she probably is.

That is really interesting! Seeing as Marian is closer to the Aramaic Mariam, original form of Mary, I'm inclined to believe it. It seems like a likely phonetic glide from -an to -on.
