Okay, so, I'm not sure I'd really call this a tie-in episde to The Dark World. I mean, yeah, it's got Asgardian stuff going on, but aside from the opening in post-Thor Greenwich, this could probably have happened at any time.

But I actually enjoyed this episode. Admittedly, Marvel's version of Norse myth continues to be pretty odd and did they really need to go with a bunch of white pride-ish neopagans? Come on, there's Asatru tree-huggers too, you know. And let's not even get into how random Norwegians in Norway apparently speak English with each other when no English-speaking people are present... though I suppose it beats the "Americans visiting Scandinavia and nobody speaks English" cliche.

Maybe it's just the Viking Age nerd inside me that liked it - how they actually covered stuff like the old Norse getting as far as Sevilla. Oh, and I did like Professor Randolph the academic ex-Berserker (also: monastery! lovely, illuminated book!). Admittedly, he was a predictable plot-twist and a predictable subversion of the Asgardian stereotype, but still. And for once Ward demonstrated a bit of personality - not much, but every little bit helps.
