Being my first regular reaction post this season on account of the secretive circumstances of my getting to watch the first four episodes as I did.

Anyway.

Did I mention that I'm not a fan of the new opening?

I still don't understand how Erlendur has the authority to keep the child when Thorvi left him. It's no kin of his.

With child? Excuse me, but if Lagertha's human, she must have hit menopause by now, considering the many, lengthy timeskips. And she had fertility issues - only two kids and a miscarriage with her first husband, none with her second - and now she's just had a conversation about maybe having kids with Kalf and suddenly she's pregnant? It's not like she's a modern woman who can just stop using the pill, you know.

This better be a ploy.

Everybody needs to stop leaving Ragnar, okay?

I do like when Alexander Ludwig seems to be deliberately immitating Travis' acting.

Rollo seems to have a rare talent for marrying politically minded women.

Sister?! Oh, Roland, and here I thought you sweet and sneaky and mostly wholesome. Incest?! Well, between Odo's kink and this, the Franks are really the decadent court.

And I still find Ragnar locking up Yidu in his little menagerie creepy - apart from me not particularly liking her and finding her a ridiculous and pointless bit of exoticism and het-ifying an Athelstan 2.0.

Well, at least these ships aren't dragonheaded - though it's terribly rude to sail in with their monster-heads on when arriving at an ally's. Won't somebody think of the poor vætter?!

I'm not sure I believe that Yidu is a princess, or a just a somewhat clever slave girl playing on what she perceives as her master's (because let us not kid ourselves, he is still very much her master) desires.

It amuses me that Harald and his brother (father! dammit, Hirst) are basically fanboying over Kattegat and Ragnar and everything.

Between Aslaug and Kwenthrith and kissing Gisla and now this thing with Yidu - methinks just a farmboy Ragnar has a princess kink. Ahem.

And - I think Ivar just took the prize for youngest Viking kill on the show. Ouch.

Am I the only one who feels that the viking "sets" look less and less viking and more and more generic fantasy world?

Good girl, Lagertha.
