Books

Leigh Bardugo: Six of Crows
Can I have this as a tv show? It's fun.

Marie Brennan: The Tropic of Serpents

G.D. Falksen: A Monster's Coming of Age Story
I very much enjoyed this. It's a downright charming and macabre story of werewolves and ghosts and vampires, revolving around an independently minded young French woman in the mid-19th century. It reminded me a bit of the Gail Carriger's novels, except not half as silly and not steampunkish.

Ann Leckie: Ancillary Mercy

Maria Lindgren Leavenworth & Malik Isaksson: Fanged Fan Fiction: Variations on Twilight, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries
On one hand, I really would have liked for them to have picked some other canons, but that said, I found this book and its literary analysis of fanfiction very interesting.

Seanan McGuire: Every Heart A Doorway
I liked the concept, but I think I would have liked it more if the actual story had been a little more than a very thin murder mystery. Though the concept - a boarding school specially focused on kids returning from other worlds a la Narnia - that works. And my favourite character was probably Jack, the apprentice mad doctor from a world of moors and vampires and etc - her I very much enjoyed. But the murder mystery plot was a bit thin and despite the original setting, it was basically a story about the misfits at school ending up teaming up for want of anybody else, which - the setting deserved better? It's an okay, just fine story, just - a bit thin?

Ken MacLeod: Hvem er bange for Wolf 359?

Mothership: Tales from Afrofuturism and Beyond

Singlewomen in the European Past, 1250-1800
I am very grateful that I do not live in a time and place where they actually felt the need to make it illegal to be a single woman living on her own and having a job. Also, I find the dichotomy between Mediterranean Europe, where slaves did household work and women married young, and northwestern Europe, where women married a bit older and usually spent part of that time in service, quite interesting.

Johnny Thiedecke: Døden som underholdning: historien om gladiatorerne

Roger Zelazny: Nine Princes in Amber

Comics

Sussi Bech & Frank Madsen: Finn Sysholm går i sort!

J.M. DeMatteis & Jeff Lemire: Justice League Dark: Rebirth of Evil

Gerry Duggan & Brian Posehn: Deadpool: Original Sin

Adam Glass: Suicide Squad: Kicked In The Teeth
I liked the movie well enough - it wasn't a great movie and it was pretty predictable, but it was okay. This - doesn't have any of the humour the movie did manage to have and everybody's an arsehole - I think I won't bother with more of this comic...
