It makes me so incredibly angry that there are already politicians - from several of the current government parties and - hopefully to their ever-lasting shame - Enhedslisten as well - who have been out talking about how we will need to change the law about distribution of child pornography. Because the 1000+ idiotic brats who thought it was fun to share a sex video of a 15 year old girl recorded and shared without her consent or knowledge - because obviously it is not fair on these 1000+ that this case will ruin their life and give them marks on their records and make them unable to work with children for ten whole years if they get sentenced.
These 1000+ brats haven’t even gotten formally charged with spreading child pornography yet and these politicians think it’s the right moment to talk about how it will ruin the perpetrators’ lives???!!! What the fuck?
Some of these are the same political parties that have previously been all about how we should lower the age of criminal liability - but I suppose that only applies to 2nd generation immigrants getting into violent crimes. When it’s the kids of the upper classes who commit crimes, well then, we need to protect them, because they’re just stupid teenagers who made mistakes and really it’s all Facebook’s fault anyway. (Not to mention how many comments I’ve already seen about how one shouldn’t record sex videos of one self and share them online, which, no, one shouldn’t - but that is derailing of the first degree when the girl in question did not consent to being filmed in the first place. But that is a different rant.)
Because the thing is: they haven’t released details about who the people about to be charged are (except the country’s stupidest 19 year old, who went on tv herself) - but they’ve given us numbers of how many in different police districts, and the biggest concentrations are in Northern Zealand and Copenhagen. I dug out some articles from back when the video was getting shared at first (they also had details about what was in it, which makes me sick to my stomach and leaves me hoping somebody’s been tried for rape already), and the gymnasiums they mentioned, where the video was heavily shared?
They were all in the rich people ghetto just north of Copenhagen proper. The area that’s a by word for stereotypical upper class, the area where there are embassies and huge villas. The people living there are the people with power, with money and connections. The sort of people who, when their precious curling brat gets a summons from the police in his or her e-boks, have the resources to hire a good lawyer and more. For that matter, I’m fairly sure that at least some of our members of parliament live there - and even if they don’t, the right wing parties have always been the traditional representatives of this sort of people.
It’s not even been a week, the brats haven’t even been charged yet, and they’re already working on turning it into a story about how we should feel sorry for the offenders.
It makes me so angry.
