As the year turns, I thought I'd get this done early rather than late for a change.

What I've recently finished reading

Brandon Montclare: Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Girl-Moon

Anne Rice: Blood Communion
Alas, I found this one mostly dull. The two previous books at least read like gloriously cracky fanfic, but this feels - yeah. Oh, Lestat nearly has a moral dilemma. Nearly. Almost?

Clarke: Nydanskerne
I - might have gotten a different message from this comic book than the main character and/or author intended. The story is set in a near future/present, where all children in Denmark - regardless of their parents' ethnicity - starts being born blond, blue-eyed and white. Chaos ensues as the "epidemic" spreads and people stop worrying about bastard children and start worrying about the loss of culture. Except it ends with the implication that "the rainbow virus" is somehow a good thing, and that, despite the only examples we are ever shown is babies of the blond, blue etc. model, this strange epidemic is an opportunity for humanity to grow beyond ethnicities and - yeah. I don't buy it. Oh well.

Jean Dufaux: Kyle of Klanach
I could have lived without the mind control plotline, but in general, I've quite enjoyed this fantasy comic series.

Martin Jensen: Mens møllen maler

Michael Pye: The Edge of the World: How the North Sea Made Us Who We Are
Well. I now know more than previously about the medieval history of mostly the Netherlands. And I keep getting more and more curious about the beguines.

What I've recently watched

78. Fröken Frimans krig season 4.
Four and last season, this time focusing on the intersection between the fight for women's and worker's rights. I didn't feel there were as much character related plot this season, but it was still good, and I'm sad it's done.

79. Ex Libris: The New York Public Library
Okay, three hours might have been a bit much (they could easily have cut ½ hour of the management meetings, especially once it dawned on me that they kept throwing around buzzwords), but it was interesting to see the sheer variety within the NY Public Library system - which, size-wise, I suppose I'd need to compare to the total Danish library system to make sense.

80. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
This is a delightful movie. I am now convinced that Miles Morales collects - not father figures (he's got a perfectly fine one of those), but disaster loser uncles. (It's all Sony, so - is this the same verse as Venom? Can I hope for disaster loser uncle Eddie at some point?)

81. Så længe jeg lever
Sadly boring biopic about John Mogensen. It felt like none of the characters were allowed to have conversations that didn't instantly get turned into JM's lyrics.

What I'm reading now

Maurice Leblanc's The Hollow Needle - alas, Lupin is swiftly losing his appeal to me. Oh well, there's only two-three more books available in Danish and they're not what anybody would call long...
