Have just finished reading Temeraire: His Majesty's Dragon and absolutely loved it. Started and finished the same day, which, to people who know how I read, is a pretty clear indication of how much I liked it. Am practically bouncing and very happy that I am first in line for both sequels at the library and only have to wait for them to get through processing.

So, while I'm waiting, would anybody happen to know if there has been made any crossover fanfic with this book series?

I'm pretty sure there's a little snippet which is a fusion with Stargate Atlantis, if that's of interest. Let me consult the gurus at sgastoryfinders.

Found it: 'Cross into the Blue' by [livejournal.com profile] harriet_spy.

Great books: I found the first one the most complete but am eagerly looking forward to the next installments. I was even more pleased when I found out (after I'd bought the book - she doesn't publicize it for understandable reasons) that the author is one of my favourite fanfiction writers under another name.

Thanks for the link. It just had to be a crossover with a series I have never seen, didn't it? Oh well, still interesting to get a glimpse of modern dragon society, so to speak.

I'm surprised, though, that there doesn't seem to have been made any crossovers with any age of sail-fandoms. Imagine Hornblower on dragonback. Or Aubrey and Maturin somehow ending up in a parallel world where they can still fight the evils of Napoleon, but Maturin might get in serious trouble if trying to acquire a "specimen" out of scientific curiosity. Still, it's a pretty new book series. Maybe someone will get the general idea...

I think I had heard the author was a fanfic writer, but I must confess to ignorance as to which one. Could you point me in the right direction, perhaps?

Oh, and have you read the Temeraire short story on her website? Tiny funny piece?

Sorry for the slow reply: I've been away for a few days.

I know what you mean about age of sail crossovers: especially as I rather suspect from the way she writes that NN is a fan of O'Brien in particular. The differing roles of the Navy and the Air Corps are so carefully laid out, though, that I'd rather like to see a fusion: it makes perfect sense for Laurence and Jack Aubrey to be acquainted, and Stephen in conversation with a dragon would be a wonderful thing to read. Fingers crossed.

It would be pretty hypocritical of me not to share NN's 'other' lj writing name, since I found it out myself by reading it in a comment. As I understand it, she writes fanfiction under the name shallott, or [livejournal.com profile] astolat.

Off to read the short story now...
