You know, I have always liked to get the outsiders' perspective on things like, say, Denmark. Because they tend to point out all those weird things that an actual Dane take for granted and never waste a thought on. Like, say, a candy that's been around my entire life (and which I have happily eaten plenty of). And then one day you take a look, really take a look, at the name. :-)
You know, a few years ago there was this candy-alcohol craze. For a while, this came as vodka-shots. Tell me, my friends, would you have swallowed?

Tell me, my friends, would you have swallowed?

Now I need some help from you, if you wouldn't mind... Don't hit me!
1. Could you tell me the exact line in the Danish anthem that has the fat gay men in it? (Is it perchance the first and second line?)
2. Do you happen to know what exactly a Swede understands (in Swedish and English) when listening to that line in Danish? (I could ask a Swedish friend, but for that, I'd at least need to know which line in the Danish anthem it is.)
3. And could you give me the exact English translation of the Danish line?
I hope I'm not too confusing. Those three things are all I need to know to finish the fic...

Anyway
1. It's the second line. Which is part of what is always sung at football matches.
2. Not being a Swede, not exactly, no - but "brede bøge", as far as I know, sounds like well, to be precise it is more like broad or wide gay men.
3. Wikipedia has a page with the Danish national anthem, complete with both a literal and a slightly more free translation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_er_et_yndigt_land
Hope that helps.

Now I just need to find a Swede who can tell me exactly what he/she understands, because my knowledge of Swedish vocabulary (let alone GRAMMAR!) is zero.

Also, as I was riding my bike to the uni yesterday, I noticed something and thought: "There's something you'll never see in the US: someone riding their bike and smoking a cigarette at the same time."
