Admittedly, it didn't rain today - for a change. The wind just blew - welcome to Denmark, the country where windspeed is measured in pelicans. Go figure...

Still, for the past week it's been raining cats and dogs and more. Of course it was kind of predictable - the Roskilde festival needs its mud - but still. This is supposed to be summer.

I know I shouldn't complain. It's not like the rain has done anything other than make me stay indoors. Not like other people, who has had to leave their homes, and the news have been showing clips that look like something that I don't associate with Danish weather. Watery landscapes dotted with houses and seals on inland golf courses...

There is a lake/pond where I live. Usually it stays behind its fence. Not anymore.

Consider, usually the lake starts a foot or two on the other side of the fence. Usually this bit is a path. And this picture was taken a couple of days ago, as was this.

That's where the path leads up to the road I live on.  That's how high it was a couple of days ago. Then it rained some more. This is how high it is today.

Now, of course, I know this is all nothing. Nothings been damaged, though I'm pretty sure all that water around the roots can't be good for the trees. Still, no damage, unlike lots of other places. No people drowned in their own car, unlike that poor person in Sweden. Nothing really in the grand scheme of things.

But man, I am so sick of the rain!

That? Is some serious rain! Send some to Florida, would you? We can trade you some... um, some... wildfires?

Send some to Florida, would you?
I really wish I could, but I have no idea how. Sorry. Still, just as well, since I really wouldn't know where to put a wildfire...

Flooding photos are always interesting to me. Sorry you've been deluged!

If you're sick of rain, come live in California! We haven't had a drop of rain here since April, typical for us this time of year. We might get s brief sprinkle once this summer, but no rain again until early November is our usual pattern.

Thanks for the sympathy, though I think I'll stick around and endure the rain. You wouldn't believe how pretty and green the world is after a day or two of rain in the summer. I just wish all the rainy days hadn't ganged up together this time...

I am, too. Not least of which because of the travesty of enjoying a week of Midwestern summer (which is, mind, not something I used to enjoy!), and then coming back to what passes for summer in Denmark.

Ah, the Danish summer. When it's not raining, it's a heat wave that has you dreaming of rain...

The week after I got back, I was singing "Du danske sommer, jeg elsker dig, selv om du prøver at drukne mig".

Truth to tell, the heat in Denmark has never been severe enough while I've been here that I've dreamed of rain. I don't consider it to be a heat wave until it cracks 40°.
