Since I'm not expecting managing to write anything fic-like between now and New Year's Eve, I thought I might do this now.

Right, 2007. Not as productive as I had hoped, and I never did manage to accomplish my New Year's resolution from last year :-( Sorry. I don't know, I was just getting going, and then the new movie happened, and something dried up. Maybe next year...

Anyway, in May I did manage to write a little trilogy of requests for the 5 things meme: 5 times James Norrington lost a button of his breeches for

[personal profile] elessil, 5 times Captain Sparrow didn't mind the rum being gone for [personal profile] order_of_chaos and 5 times James Norrington thought like a pirate for [profile] shrieking_ell. Together they manage to tell a little Sparrington story that managed to be turned into a complete AU by the third movie. Ah well...

After PotC 3 came out, I somehow managed to write a very mini series, The Sparrington Fairytales: Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and The Frog Prince. Sleeping Beauty managed to get a pretty staggering number of comments, which I'm blaming more on timing than quality - of course, I did have a couple of days head start... Anyway, I've been toying on and off with ideas for a couple of more - The Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Maybe I'll get around to writing them in the new year...

Managed to get bit by something as unusual as a language specific plotbunny involving Elizabeth having a conversation with Danish historical person Marie Grubbe about the various qualities of sons of kings and somehow turned it into a fic which also involves Jack's paternal grandparents, one of which has a mer- in his species description. Anyway, wrote the Danish fic: Og sømanden hjemvendt fra havet, never got a single comment (somewhat depressing - at least writing flat out Sparrington slash in Danish got me a neat little collection), have only just gotten around the translating it into: Home is the Sailor, Home from the Sea. Mind you, personally I prefer it in Danish. It feels like its lost something in translation...

And finally I actually managed to write a fan fic that isn't PotC. Instead, it's Beowulf - the new movie by among other people Neil Gaiman. Which isn't really that good, but somehow it inspired me to mix in some Nordic myth and produce a somewhat dark and disturbing little story titled Nameless about how Grendel's mother used to be the Norse goddess Gefion. It seemed obvious, considering how both ladies had a tendency to have sons of varied shapes. As it turned out, once I did a little research, it just kept fitting better...

So, not the most productive year ever, but it could have been a lot worse.
