I used to love this series. I had it on video as a kid, a synchronized version recorded from television, and I can't remember how many times I watched it, but it was many. And many more. And then some. I wonder if I still have that video somewhere. *excuse me, wallowing in nostalgia here*
Seriously, this is the series that I blame for my love for the trickster Sun Wukong (well, this one was fun too, but I didn't have that one on video) - funny thing is, I didn't know most of the story. Didn't even know him by the name Sun Wukong - just the Monkey King. Of course, these days I'll cheerfully read good books and watch not so good television mini series and even write somewhat silly fan fiction involving him. Still, the reviews of that new Jackie Chan movie has pretty much convinced me that it's not worth going to the cinema to watch, but I can wait...
