[info]the_dala gave me an A:

Agnes Jensen - Agnes is one of the (many) characters from the great Danish television series Matador. When we first meet her she's a maid - spirited, but not with the best taste in men, alas. Not that the taste in men improves - the guy she ends up marrying is more caught up in politics than in his family. But Agnes is pretty typical of the Matador series women - she might start out seeming like a weak little girl, but once she gets started... lets just say she's got quite the head for business (much to her Communist husband's consternation) and leave it at that. Matador is definitely a good series for finding strong women characters, actually - strong men, not so much...

Alec Tremontaine - also known as the Mad Duke. One of the two main characters in Ellen Kushner's fantasy of manners Swordspoint. What not to love? Crazy, bisexual, hot boyfriend who will do anything for him and vice versa (also very well written novel). Of course, he's a bit of a woobie in the sequel, The Privilege of the Sword, but since his approach to woobie-dom involves orgies and scandalizing the public by letting a girl learn to fence...

Anamaria - strangely enough my favourite woman character from the PotC movies, and I am still wondering where she went. I mean, she seems to be the only member of Jack's crew to mysteriously vanish between CotBP and DMC (of course, in my more perverse moments, I imagine she was simply below deck or something in the scenes before cannibal island and that she was an intrinsic part of the cages once there - but that's just me). Still, I missed her. Partly because Elizabeth kind of annoys me - governor's daughter that just happens to learn to fight and sail, has every man lusting after her and becomes Pirate King. Boring. And don't even get me started on Calypso. But Anamaria - a woman living as pirate. She was actually interesting. Why did she go away?

Anton Godoretsky - Mage and member of the Night Watch. I kind of like him better in the movies, even if they are a weird mess compared to the novels. Still, he is a strange one. Actually, it's a strange world. At first - and especially in the movies - you're left with the impression that the Light is good, but gradually you come to realize that pretty much everyone is flawed and that the Light is just as nasty, if not moreso, as the Dark. Actually, I rather like it. And I like that Anton, though of the Light, spends an extraordinary amount of time trying to figure out what is right and wrong and worrying about stuff like his girlfriend's unavoidable destiny. + his best friend is a vampire, and vampires are always automatically Dark.

Aziraphale & Anthony J. Crowley - angel and demon from the novel Good Omens. Technically opposites, but you know what they say about opposites. Adorable and silly and I hope they are enjoying life in their cottage in the South Downs... (and yeah, I think they count for one - they come as a pair, you understand).
