It's just stopped being December 1st. Time for Christmas calendars to count down and all that - in chocolate, toys, televisions shows, even the occasional fanfic.
When I was a little kid - not very old at all - my grandmother used to buy me and my sister Christmas calendars - cardboard ones, not a hint of (always-crappy) chocolate. They had Christmas motives, winter landscapes, coziness. They were sprinkled with glitter, and mostly had some fold-out 3-D effect thing going on, and when you opened them, they had tiny pictures of toys and holiday decorations. I miss those calendars. I wish I had one. I wish I knew where to buy one - these days, unless you buy the ones for the television series, all calendars seem to be (always-crappy) chocolate ones - I wish I did, but the bookshop that sold them closed a long time ago and I've been looking for a couple of years now and the closest thing I have found is some webshop, which comes close, but not quite.
And I'm feeling nostalgic, dammit. I'd really love one of those old calendars. I wonder why they don't seem to make them anymore. They were gorgeous.
