I'm probably the only person in the whole wide world who can look at a picture of Herman Bang and see an uncanny resemblance to Sean Connery...

No, I can see it, minus the droopy eyelid. It's the grey hair and big dark eyebrows combination.

Of course I don't know anything about this person, so the resemblance could be a lot more humorous/ironic than I'm appreciating.

Nah, no specific humorous/ironic subtext. Herman Bang is a late-19th century Danish author - one of the really big ones - and I was just reading one of his novels and noticed the resemblance in the author picture. But nothing particularly humorous (unless you count the fact that Herman Bang was Denmark's most famous (or infamous, considering the time-frame) gay author in his day... (admittedly, he might also have been the only known gay author in his day, I'm not entirely sure about that, but still))
