To be "liberal" in the U.S. is to be moderate in Denmark, I think; to be be "moderate" in the U.S. is to be right in Denmark -- so that might give you some idea where you stand on the spectrum.
Anyhow, since you know so much about Denmark: tell me, what is a "Slut Spurt"?
Or maybe I am liberal in the Danish sense, and the quiz simply could not place me any further to the left...
Slutspurt: usually means a closing sale / sale that is about the be over (is that the right word?) - not that every shop takes it seriously. I seem to remember a shop that had a slutspurt sale going for three years or something...
Alternatively, slutspurt can simply mean a final burst of speed in race. It really depends on the context.
Yeah, "close-out sale" is the best word I could think of..... I think that Slut (Danish) = Schluss (German) = Close (English). I understand Danish only through English and German cognates. Spurt must be the cousin of sparen (German), which translates as "save" in English.
My guess was good -- still, it's very different from what "slut spurt" means in English!
Slut = the end, over. But spurt = running very fast. Best guess behind the word slutspurt = you have to run to get all the bargains before the shop closes (ends).
And yes, I suppose an English speaker might get some interesting thoughts upon seeing such a sign ;-)
