The time has apparently finally come for the authors of Yuletide stories to be revealed, which means that I can tell anyone who cares that my contribution was a little tale called Toad Dreams, written for one KacyCallum. She asked for traditional fairytales (specifically The Little Mermaid) and that it be creepy - judging from the comments I've gotten, I think I managed that. Anyway, my recipient seems to like it, I've gotten some nice comments that I'll have to remember expressing my gratitude for and even a couple of recs. So that's good.

I just read it.

And, oh, that's not a nice story at all, but it is good.
Delicious.

Well, I wasn't aiming for nice. But I am glad you appreciate the tale for itself :-)

I hope you don't mind me crashing your livejournal, but I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Toad Dreams! It was absolutely perfect, creepy, disturbing and thoughtful, exactly what I love in a fairytale, and it made me look at the story from a different angle. I thought your language was just gorgeous, despite the often-horrifying events, and I could empathise with the sea-witch. Just...brilliant.

Oh, I don't mind (as long as we are not talking about bringing the walls down style crashing).

And I am ridiculously happy that you liked your story. Thank you :-)
