Having been working at the local library for some time now and having spent more time than I like to think about looking for books and dvds and computer games and old tapes and whatever, half the time finding them and half the time searching high and low and not finding them, I have come to this conclusion:

All the library materials need to be chipped (they can do that when they have to move everything down to the shipyard anyway in a couple of years, right?). And then there need to be a small, handheld scanner, where you can type in the number of a specific book or whatever and it will go beep, beep, beep and guide you right to it, even if it is on the wrong shelf or in the wrong department or fucking awol. That's what the world needs.

Also, weekend!

That is absolutely brilliant and you should totally pursue it. I can't tell you the amount of time I've wasted in libraries looking for something that was mis-shelved. This could make you rich, and make the rest of us not lose our minds.
