So, I've discovered that evening shifts at the children's library often (not always, but often) have a tendency to be pretty - uneventful. And I've discovered that apparently sitting at that desk with little to do is somehow conducive to my creativity. So.

The first ten people (if that many can be persuaded to give a damn) who comment on this post will get to give me a prompt of some form, and I will write them a fanfic. You're welcome to think outside the box, and I should mention that I love crossovers. I can't guarantee any kind of time limits on when stuff will be finished, but I promise that I will do the writing - the only exception being if I am not familiar with a given fandom. (Well, unless some fandom sounds so interesting that I have to go make myself familiar with it... anyone?)

Well? Any takers?

Last night i was trying to imagine a POTC/A Knight's Tale crossover. Any ideas?

From: [identity profile] oneiriad.livejournal.com

Unfortunately I've never actually seen A Knight's Tale - all I know about it is what I've read on tvtropes. Sorry :-(

ah, oh well. it's a good movie (actually that depends on one's need for accuracy of portrayals of medieval times) and heath ledger is hot. you should check it out some time!

From: [identity profile] oneiriad.livejournal.com

Well, I might - though I have quite an impressive list of movies I really ought to get around to watching already. But maybe.

But that still leaves me prompt-less. Do you, perchance, have another prompt?

From: [identity profile] oneiriad.livejournal.com

Well, the prompts are sort of the point, seeing as I need ideas. Have you no ideas at all - a fandom, a plot twist, a couple of words? Something? Anything?

Ok, here's an idea I had for a story in the Harry Potter fandom, save that I can't write fiction to save my life. It features my OTP (as a smarty-pants girl with a ThingTM for older men), Hermione & Snape.

Snape's body was never found after The Big Battle, and really, how likely is the Potions Master to be killed by snake venom?? Obviously, he survived, and went into hiding afterwards.

Hermione is several years older, her children at school, and increasingly unsatisfied in her marriage to Ron. On a family trip to Land's End in Cornwall, she discovers a bookshop where the proprietor seems oddly familiar...

I'll add it to my list - though truth be told, Harry Potter has never really managed to stir the fangirlish parts of me, so no promises of anything long or complicated. We'll see. Hmmm.

Me! Me! *bounces*

Sparrington Future!AU, in which James is a librarian, Jack fails to return a book, and the books themselves are chipped like you said they should be.

Maybe next time you could give a list of most-likely fandoms - then I'd be able to think of a really good crossover idea. *grins*

*glares*

You do realize that it's your fault that I couldn't fall asleep until way too late because my brain just wouldn't stop? If I nod off at some inappropriate time or place, you're getting the blame...

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Mmmmm, blame. *beams*

If your brain likes that prompt half as much as I do, it's no wonder it wouldn't stop - I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I second this sentiment. That was a hard prompt to follow up!

I have no idea if this: http://oneiriad.livejournal.com/235867.html is anywhere close to what you expected, but that's where my brain went...

Ooh... fic! I would love some Sparrington. I haven't read any in far too long. And... hmm. Cross it with a Neil Gaiman universe.

I've read American Gods, Good Omens, The Graveyard Book, Coraline, Stardust, some of Sandman... and I'm partway through Fragile Things, Smoke and Mirrors, and Anansi Boys. heh. =Þ

I don't know what all of the above you've read, but you can pick which to cross it with. And AU is fine with me. =)

And somewhere in the story should be a bench and a duck.

...I wish I had time to write at work. Cataloging is not nearly so kind to creativity. =P

It's only sometimes, and it's mostly because it's only a temporary job, so there isn't anything else I can do, once I've been around twice to make sure books aren't toppled and the toys aren't spread every, especially in the evenings when only so many people show up.

You haven't read Neverwhere? Why haven't you read Neverwhere? There is a Marquis you really need to meet.

Ah, well. At least you have sometimes! I've been carrying around a journal, though, which I've been taking time to write in most days. I'm hoping that'll help inspire more fic-writing in me.

Ooh... Well, feel free to use him! I already have the book, but I haven't started it yet. After I finish listening to Fragile Things and reading Smoke & Mirrors, I have one of [livejournal.com profile] alex_beecroft's books on my list, then a Dream-Hunter book, and then I'll read Neverwhere.
