My inner feminist and my inner royalist are beginning to be somewhat depressed.

The reason is this: it is beginning to seem more and more likely that the change in the Danish grundlov - a change that will remove the bit about males coming before females when it comes to the throne - that we have an election about next week won't get through this time around.

The thing is, polls and statistic are pretty much saying that people are all for royal gender equality. 80-some % in favour. Admittedly, I expect some people on the far left to vote no simply because they're against the monarchy, but still, if people would just vote there wouldn't be a problem.

But for some inexplicable reason the politicians have taken an election that requires that at least ca. 40% of the Danish population who are entitled to vote votes yes and tied it to - not an election for the Danish parliament or the local town councils, both of which could easily get people going. Oh no. They've tied it to the European Union parliament election. Which is just plain stupid, really...

Ah well. I'll go. I'll vote. And I'll hope.
