According to Norse myth, Loki is the son of Fabaurti and Laufey. Now, I've come across several references (although I can't seem to find a specific origin for them in the eddas, although I haven't so far looked very hard) saying that this involved Fabaurti throwing a lightning at Laufey. Now consider this: there is another character in Norse myth who usually throws lightning around. Of course, imagining Thor as Loki's father wouldn't actually make the Asa gods any more screwed up than they already are...

And that's what happens when I stay up too late.
