Meme was abducted at gunpoint from [livejournal.com profile] icarus_chained - who hopefully doesn't mind.

1. Go to my fic post and pick out a line or two from one of my stories. (Must be a full line, please -- no sentence fragments or speech tags - except where I've written sentence frags, obviously -_-;)
2. I will respond with which story of mine I think it's from.
3. A drabble to anyone who stumps me. If you do stump me, feel free to request a situation and characters.

*grins* Nope. Time and Time Again

And if that means I get a drabble ... some more Immortal!James wouldn't go astray? *hopeful*

Here goes nothing - probably not what you had in mind, though

"I'm sorry, Jack, " he says, as he watches the other man struggle in vain against the manacles.

"I'm so sorry. I wish I could stay. Here, now, with you. I love you. Both of you. But if I don't do this..." and words fail him, and he steps forward, wrapping his arms around the bound and gagged pirate, tugging his head into the awkward curve of an arm. Stays there for just a little eternity.

"I can't not do this, Jack. Maybe some day you'll forgive me."

He reluctantly closes the hotel room door behind him, hanging the "Do not disturb" sign almost like an afterthought.

"For what it's worth, I am sorry."

He turns to glare at the man in the pin-striped suit, then turns his back on him rather than accepting the pity in those eyes. Checks that his sword is tucked away neatly in his coat, checks his watch. Nearly nine o'clock. He's supposed to meet Jack at a place called Joe's in about 20 minutes. Supposed to...

He takes one last deep breath before heading out into the autumn night.

Oh, that'll do. That'll do nicely. James, you and your damned bloody honour ... And someone should tell the Doctor that 'I'm sorry' doesn't really help.

Thank you!

Yeah, somebody should. Thing is, I find I don't really like Ten, unlike most people. I can't help it. Nine, I love - pure and simple - screwed-up and gloomy and a complete marshmallow on the inside, but Ten? Obsessed about Rose, charming on the surface, even downright adorable, but down below capable of such terrible things... ahem. Right.

But you know, back when I wrote TaTA, I considered doing a proper sequel, because DW canon has some pretty steep issues with temporal paradoxes - I never quite figured out a way to give it a decent happy ending. And the thing is - James would do this. Would sacrifice himself knowingly to allow his lover and the whole world to go on. Would have no other choice, really, once he knew the potential consequences, not if he was to remain true to himself.

Is it insane that I resent the actions of characters in a story I wrote??? Or rather, the logical inevitability of those actions? (Did that even make sense?)

*grins* I'm generally more Classic Who than Nu Who, though I loved Nine and Eleven is slowly growing on me. Heh. Three and Seven were really my Doctors, though.

James would do it, yes. And Jack would, quite understandably, never, ever forgive him for it. Though he'd understand it.

Three words. Arrangements-verse Raphael. *smiles lopsidedly* Yeah, it makes sense. It makes a lot of sense.

He takes a deep breath, stares at the ceiling. It looks suspiciously like a ship's keel.

Would love to! Try this one:

He couldn't help himself, he really couldn't.

Third time's the charm? :-)

(Have you any idea how long I spent scrolling through icarus_chained ouvre to find a nice, generic quote? It's harder than it looks, this game.)

One last try, infinitely late?

He is young. It's hard to blame him.

(I can imagine :D It really is.)

I win, I win, I win! Are you still doing drabbles? If so, I ask for Gabriel, timetravel and the Black Pearl. Or, alternatively, more of Vampire!Sherlock - the world needs more Vampire!Sherlock. (John just needs to not find severed toes in the sink first thing in the morning.)

That was from Five times James Norrington thought like a pirate. Merchant ships and prize money.

It was a beautiful Caribbean day.

It had been, anyway. It had started so well. He had the Pearl back, a solid crew and a map to treasure. In short, everything a pirate could want.

Except then he didn't have the map - damn that bloody Sparrow - and as if that wasn't bad enough, these two had just - appeared.

"Stay back!" the young man with the musket shouts for about the seventh time, and Barbossa does, because he's not stupid. True, the tall man has already fired it - but he's fired it twice and is aiming it like a man fully expecting it to fire a third time. Otherwise he'd have rushed the man by now - if not for the fact that the two shots had only punched a small hole in a sail and taken out a bit of the railing he'd probably have done so anyway.

At least Sparrow isn't here to complain about his precious ship getting shot.

"Honestly, Samsquatch, will you relax - I mean, you're the one who wanted a Caribbean vacation in the first place..."

The short man behind the other is leaning against the railing as if he doesn't have a care in the world, as if he wasn't aboard a ship full of fierce pirates. In fact, he's sipping something from a fancy glass like some dandyish gentleman.

"I meant in the 21st century" the tall man grinds out.

"Oh, well why didn't you just say so? Let's go party like it's 2099."

There's a snap of someone's fingers and the odd pair are gone, leaving behind only an indignant "Gabriel!" hanging in the air and a glass balancing precariously on the railings.

Barbossa doesn't think before moving forward and grabbing the glass before it can fall down and shatter against the deck. There's something orange and fruit-smelling in it, and when he tastes it he almost pokes his eye out with the inexplicable little umbrella-thing, but it turns out to be alcohol and that's good enough for him. Right now, he needs that. And the glass will probably fetch a fine sum, as fine as it is.

Right, back to business. No time to waste on mysteriously appearing and vanishing men. They've got themselves a little bird to catch.

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!! Not just Gabriel on the Black Pearl, but Gabriel, Sam, and Barbossa! Character voices all perfect, and circumstances hilarious. There may have been cackling and high-pitched noises of delight. *beams*

Sam left loopholes. He should have known better :P

Umbrella!

Poor Gabriel has no idea what you're talking about. He's just trying to give Sam what he wanted, but the damned hunter is just so bloody picky...
