Well, Dreamwidth is allowing you to create an account for free, without an invitation code, through the end of the year, so you might want to create an account over there now even if you're not going to do anything with it.
Dreamwidth has a *nifty* import function that will port over your entire history of posting, complete with comments, if you do decide to move.
Oh, I have a dreamwidth, but I keep forgetting to update it and haven't actually gotten around to importing my LJ yet :-( Besides, all my comms and half my flist are on LJ :-(
Yeah, that's why I still have a foot on LJ... but I've moved all of my fiction posts to DW (for one thing, I can post a 20K in one piece there) and turned off the comments on LJ so that I have them all in one place.
The only thing I can think to do is to try posting at DW comms to help build up traffic.
