So, I was having a pretty bad day today - anger and slamming and depressed and such. Well, seems there are ways to cure such things.
Doctor´s orders are as follows:
1. Vent. For instance on LJ - thank you so much, drbillbongo and
raphe1 for your positive thoughts - I think they worked :-)
2. Have bought a couple of tickets for interesting movies in faraway (well, maybe not so faraway Copenhagen) several weeks ago, so go see them.
First movie was "Cachorro" - or "Bear cub" as the English title was. It is quite sweet, but basically it follows a formula that I have seen before: Child (in this case the 11-year-old Bernardo) can no longer stay with usual parent (in this case because the mother has been arrested for smuggling drugs in India) and therefore has to live with slightly unusual substitute (in this case his uncle Pedro, a gay dentist from Madrid). This turns out surprisingly well, until some irritating outside force (in this case Bernardo´s grandmother) interferes, thinking the arrangement wrong... Predictable, but kind of sweet. Not for the little kiddies, though - unless your little kiddies can handle a sex scene between a couple of somewhat overweight and quite hairy men, a scene only just on this side of pornography - and not really that sexy from my point of view. I don´t know, maybe I´m shallow, but I like my boys with a little less body fat than that.
Second movie, though - what can I say, if "Cachorro" chased of my bad mood, then "Latter days" left me with a big smile plastered all over my face - literally. It is the tale of Christian, a young man living the wild party life in Los Angeles, until the day that a small group of Mormons move in across the hall. One of them, Aaron, arouses Christian´s interest very much - very, very much. And vice versa. But unfortunately, the Mormons are not really that keen about one of their own being gay, so the young lovers are going to have to go through Hell before they can have each other. It´s cute, it´s sappy, it´s romantic (one of the most romantic movies I have seen in a long time) - GO SEE IT! I really mean it - it is worth the watch. Really, move, find a place where you can see it - it is GOOOOOOD! (and on a side note, the girl who played Tara in Buffy has a small part)

I MUST watch the movies, at least the second one. I'm also not too fond of overweight hairy men... I guess that's called bear sex and I don't really like it. I also can't manage to imagine how people can watch this and feel entertained... *scratches head* But the second movie seems to be very lovely!! I doubt that this movie is shown here, but when Amazon gets it, I'll most definitely buy it. I love sappy romantic movies... *sighs and blushes*
Still, I wonder what I have done to make you get back your good mood... But I'm glad it worked! :) *hugs*

Well, the second movie sounded very interesting indeed.
Oh, have you seen "Lost & Delirious"? Again a wonderful movie, except for the ending... :(

Have you ever seen "Bedrooms and Hallways"? Lovely movie about a gay man joining one of those men´s groups that you hear about - and falling for one of the other members, who is (apparently) straight. Lovely romantic comedy :-)

Haven't seen it, but it's on my wishlist at Amazon. It's called "Kreuz und Queer" in German. :)
But I've seen a similar movie, and I also own it: "Der bewegte Mann". Til Schweiger is playing Axel, a straight guy who got dumped by his girlfriend because he wasn't faithful. Looking for a place to live, he meets Norbert who is gay. And because Axel is really pretty, Norbert falls for him - and his friends want him, too. But it's a pity that Axel goes back to his girlfriend at the end because she's pregnant...

Danish movie - "En kort en lang" (or "Shake it all about"). Jacob and Jørgen are a couple, and one day Jacob asks Jørgen to marry him, to which he happily says yes. So far so good - but then Jacob suddenly finds himself in love with a -girl-, Caroline, Jørgen´s sister-in-law - and she gets pregnant, and suddenly Jacob and Caroline are standing at the alter... It´s a comedy, but with some sad moments. (Personally, I think Jacob acts like a spoiled son-of-a-bitch, who doesn´t deserve his sweet boyfriend, but that´s just me.)

I prefer "Killer Condom" ("Kondom des Grauens"), because there, in the end, the love between the inspector and the rent boy succeeds. :)

Oh, but he doesn´t - he goes back to him in the end - or rather, there is this last scene involving a groom leaving the bride at the altar, a white horse and a plane about to take off.
"Killer Condom" sounds like a movie worth seeing for the title alone.
Hmmm, ever seen "Queer as folk" - the british series, that is? Lovely men in that one :-)

"Killer Condom" is great!! There's Inspector Mackeroni chasing after a condom which bites... *g* And while chasing after this thing, he meets this rent boy, who is extremely cute... There's even a "Nude Filmography" of him, saying "He plays the cute hustler picked up by the film's detective protaganist. We get a nice, if brief, shot of his butt as he strips in a hotel room, just before the pair get attacked by the condom. Pretty campy movie, but the camera loves the linger on his beautiful face. Later, we get a fairly entertaining sex scene with him and the detective in an elevator. He's a hottie. One more note, a great package shot at the end of the film."
The right one... yummy!

Well, I saw it at a film festival, so you could try to keep your eyes open for one near you. Or you could consider the American dvd? Or we could hope that it is not sold in Europe simply because it is somewhat new and has yet to cross the Atlantic in large amounts.

But I'll see if the movie is published in Germany, too. Or at least somewhere in Europe. Then it's PAL 2 and I can buy it.
