So, I just watched the first episode of Elementary. Not particularly impressed. None of the characters really caught me, nor their interactions. Not that it was terrible, it just - didn't feel particularly Sherlock Holmes, and the mystery wasn't anything that CSI Wherever couldn't have easily deduced. And it suffers in comparison to Sherlock, and really - how can you not compare?
It did have nice moments - like this Sherlock keeping bees on his roof, which Watson learns from observing honey dripping down from the ceiling. And while it's not my thing, I suspect certain parts of fandom will be thrilled with the canonical S/M bits.
Anyway, not making me jump up and down for more, but no worse than so many American detective shows. Sadly, so far, not any better either. I think I'll give it a few more episodes to sway me, which of course means waiting for it to actually premiere ;-).
