My day, you ask? Well, it started with snow...

I had been at work for about 45 minutes when the power went out. As in, goodbye electricity, it was wonderful to know you. (At least the same thing happened to the politicians at Christiansborg - schadenfreude is sweet). Sadly, in a modern library - you'd be surprised how little you can do without electricity - everything's computerized these days.

Anyway, about two hours later, power came back - which didn't mean we could just dive into work, oh no, because having the power cut without warning really doesn't become the servers handling all the different systems etc., so that was about another two hours (which I wickedly exploited to finally get started on my Yuletide fic, so not completely unproductive, if not exactly the sort of productive I was supposed to be). At least the systems were up and running by the time I had a shift downstairs, face to face with loaners and visitors and customers, so I didn't have to do the "sorry, we can't help you reserve a book, sorry, the system is down, sorry, sorry, sorry" routine. Which is a good thing, as it gets old real quick, let me tell you.

I heard there was a power outage. That's never fun! At least Yuletide is the silver lining :-)

It might have been more fun if there was anything to do without power - at least once it came back on, I could write. But without it? Wandering around an occasionally very dark building has a limited entertainment value, I'm afraid.

Yeah :-/ Bah. That's one of those things where having the iPad (or an old fashioned notepad) would be nice.

The iPad was at home, but I did have a good oldfashioned paper notepad in my bag - unfortunately, between the time of day, the location of the office and the snowy weather outside - it was just a bit too dark to use it, really :-(

Urgh. I can imagine the nightmare it is to lose all computer aid at KB.

Seems to happen frequently these days, power outage.

Less nightmare, more - dull. As in, you're not trying to find work-arounds, because there are no work-arounds. Everything is online. At least nobody got trapped in an elevator, though I heard someone was down in one of the very dark vaults when the power left for greener pastures. That must have been fun.

And when it's not power outages, it's trains not running - I wonder what tomorrow's got in store for me... *worries*

I Came into work late, so missed most of not being able to work.

Was today horrible train-wise, or did it get fixed before you went home?

Well, some people could - I understand there was a group tour before the power came back - and others had shifts. Me? Chat with colleagues, eat home-made klejner brought by colleague, wander the dark building with colleagues, visiting people on shift downstairs and getting to see new!boss's office. It was alright, I suppose - but let's hope it doesn't happen too often.

Today's trains? I left work later than originally planned (deliberately) so I didn't have too long a wait for the first train actually leaving for where I wanted to go - admittedly, it was crowded, but I managed to get a seat and curl up with a book for the duration.
