Seriously, I've forgotten. Probably lost the memory sometime around dragging myself out of bed this morning - honestly, give me a day or two off beyond your basic weekend, and night becomes day...

Anyway, Christmas was nice and quiet, Christmas Eve dinner with family (I got the almond! I never get the almond, but I got the almond!) and with presents: apparently, my parents feel the need to upgrade my electronics lately - I got a phone (for which I will have to get a new SIM card, as the one in my old phone is too big...)

Last couple of days I spent mostly vegetating - doing nothing, walking down to the railway bridge to see if the water that had basically blocked it Christmas Night (when my dad was giving me a lift home) had gone away yet (it had), reading Yuletide stories .

I got a lovely story for Yuletide: mix their mead with malice, which is a little Loki-centric piece of Norse myth fic with a nice, dark feel, and quite well written.

I don't think this is the year I'll be doing an actual rec post - not this year either. Maybe next year. Or the next. I mean, there have been stories I enjoyed. A couple of them has already gotten recced by plenty of people (Seven for a Secret has some nice dark takes on Disney princesses (as befits a story for Twisted Princesses), especially the Jasmine one, and V is for Virgil who died en flambé is a perfect little Addams Family slice of life.). Others could do with more attention, like The Circus Life of Bailey Alden Clarke, Proprietor (I only read The Night Circus about a week before Christmas and it was lovely and this was just what I needed) and Lady Cassandra's Fears (because I read the series as a teen and it's some of the few of the huge pile of AD&D novels I read back then (I blame the local library's selection) that I might like to revisit some day - fond memories and a nice enough story). And then there's the oddities - not recs, just moments of huh - like reading a fanfic for Borgen (which I haven't seen and probably won't, but I got curious) and wondering if a certain bit is in character and done right or if perhaps somebody should have pointed out to the writer that Danes are quite possibly a hell of a lot more flagwaving than Americans...

As for my story, well, the recipient has left a nice comment, as has another couple of people, and it has been kudos'ed a couple of times - but so far, it has less hits than every other thing I have on AO3 except for Apocalypse in Red and Black... but then, it's a tiny fandom, even by Yuletide standards, and I'll freely admit, the summary is less than brilliant - maybe I should find a "summarizer" for when I write fic. Titles I manage, but summaries? Summaries hate me. Ah well....
