Yesterday was a very, very nice day - if I do say myself.

First of all, my family celebrated mine and my sister´s birthdays - you see, she lives in the other end of the country and was home for a weekend visit, and so we celebrated for the family a few days too early - and since her birthday is the day before mine, we celebrated for both of us, with cake and stuff - and gifts! Sorry, but I still love getting them, and I doubt that bit will ever grow old, especially not when I get season one to four of "Coupling" on dvd (among other things). Mmm, Jack Davenport...

That was in the afternoon. In the evening I attended the annual Old Student´s Party at Helsingør Gymnasium. It was quite nice - we were only four people from my old class at the dinner, but later more people showed up, so it was nice.

Usually, they just have some fairly unknown local band to play a collection of cover songs after dinner. They did that too this year, but they had also somehow managed to get a hold of the lead singer of this Danish 80´s band, Back to back, and he sang their biggest hit Jonathan. You could see how when he came on stage everybody went to listen - it was fun, maybe not particularly fancy, but very hyggeligt.

After his singing the cover band came on stage - I would wish they hadn´t. It´s not that they weren´t perfectly good - they were, it´s just that this kind of party - you don´t go to hear music and dance and drink bear (that was when you actually attended high school that was all parties were about), you come to talk to old friends, to hear what they are doing. Most of the people I know are busy getting an education (be it teacher or theologist or integration studies or whatever), at least one has managed to get himself a two-months-old daughter, everybody seems to be doing well. But the music was loud and most people wandered off to find corners where you could hear what you were saying, if not what you were thinking - and outside, where it was autumn cool, but not cold. Still, it was nice and very, very hyggeligt - I hope I can attend next year, though that depends which part of the country I´ll be living in next fall.

You got the four seasons of "Coupling" as a birthday present?? OMG, how I envy you! I had to buy them myself! My parents and friends are obviously blind and sometimes I don't even get a b-day present...
Glad you had a nice day! But your birthday is on Tuesday, isn't it? Or am I misled again?

Yes, my birthday is on Tuesday, but my sister was home for the weekend specifically to be able to celebrate her birthday (which is on Monday) with the family and so we sort of celebrated together, and somehow we wound up both of us getting all our presents and such...
Ah, "Coupling" :-) Yes, I am most definitely someone to envy ;-) But you say you don´t get presents?! What is that for a sort of arrangement?! Don´t you get any cake either, then?

Some people don't give me presents. And my parents usually buy me clothes which I wouldn't dare to wear. Hmmm...
And aye, no cake. My parents decided that I'm too fat anyway. Hmph.
