I find it a little odd

that there doesn't seem to have been a single mention on my LJ and DW flists of the The Desolation of Smaug trailer. I mean, I don't really find it that exiting, to be perfectly honest, but it seems odd that absolutely nobody has mentioned it?

This is one of those "maybe I should migrate to Tumblr" moments, isn't it?

Don't go to tumblr. Tumblr spoiled the trailer for me.

Well, I've seen the trailer - or you mean spoiled as ruined?

I mean spoiled as in showed me gifs before I had a chance to watch the trailer. So yeah, there were comments and squee but I was kind of bummed because of not getting to see it unspoiled.

See, that's one of the main reasons I'm hesitating getting on tumblr in the first place - yes, it seems like all the fun is there these days, but I'm also left with an impression of a place were unspoiled is an unknown concept.

Well, there is an add-on called tumblr Savior that blocks any entries with any tags you've specified, but tumblr makes it a life goal to rewrite their code to sabotage any thirdparty software, and also if people don't tag their spoilers you're screwed anyway. I've become way more lax about spoilers since starting hanging out on tumblr, but I'm still a spoilerphobe at heart.

Yeah, but it all seems like so much trouble - besides, sometimes you don't want to be spoiled, sometimes you're all meh about it, and sometimes you hate it.

I try not to resent meta/EVERYTHING happening on Tumblr, and to some extent I have actually made my peace with it. But yeah, the good ol' days when my f-list informed me of anything news-worthy going on, *wistful*.

I don't resent it, I'd just like if there was some convenient way to get the good stuff without actually diving in. I mean, just from a bit of cursory exploration, there seems to be so much - how does anybody even keep up with anything over there?

I still can't navigate it - I sometimes hit a tumblr tag page/feed from google, and then I can't get to the actual entries to link to them, and I can't see when entries are posted, and it's just all very confusing.
