As I sit and watch Highlander

Am I the only one who finds the voice-over in the opening credits slightly disturbing? The one with Joe telling us about Duncan and Immortals and about "In the end, there can be only one" - and then he continues: "May it be Duncan Macleod. The Highlander." Now, I get that Joe is Mac's friend and all, but he's also a friend of Richie, of Amanda - of Methos, for fuck's sake, his buddy/fellow Watcher/protege (sort of)/friend? But maybe I'm the only one who finds the implication that Joe's basically cheering for Mac to live in preference of all of these people vaguely creepy?
