[livejournal.com profile] smallfandombang is starting and I'm considering if I dare try? I mean, 10.000 words isn't a lot, and certainly not by bigbang standards, and I'm pretty sure the Vikings story I'm gearing up to write anyway can carry it - and I think the check-in dates and deadlines would be good for me. And there'd be time before Yuletide really starts and after and...

On the other hand, apart from a certain shall not be mentioned abandoned WIP, my longest stories are at most about half of this. But then, I really do think Athelstan-the-unlucky-missionary can carry it.

Anybody got any advice? Encouragement? Dire warnings?

*cheers on* If you need any advice on writing long stories, I'm all yours. Most important, though: sit down, consider the plot and write in just a line or two the ten most important scenes you want in the fic. It'll be much easier to write after doing that.
