About the Yuletide tags

I find it terribly amusing that, when somebody pointed out to the mods that Vikings RPF is listed both under RPF and No Media, the mods replied:

We are aware of the Vikings situation, but it’s ambiguous (could be real Vikings or the cast of the show)

One of the nominated characters is George Blagden. Guess he really must be a tiny viking…

That said, I am not amused by the whole Irene Adler - Moriarty tag issue - not that I am going to request or offer Elementary, but it strikes me that we here have one character being divided into two, while last year, I got basically yelled at for daring to want A:EMH Bruce Banner and Hulk as separate characters.

Actually, speaking of that little mess, I am actually feeling a bit of good, old-fashioned schadenfreude at seeing how many people this year seem to be getting a taste of what "mods deciding the absolutely know everything about your fandom" feels like. It's unworthy of me, I know.

Right, anyway, maybe I should get around to beginning to write my yuletide letter...

Yes yes yes to Irenarty vs Hulk/Bruce!!!! I almost typed it in my comment, and then I decided not to muddy the waters even more. But seriously -- it makes ZERO sense. Irene is Moriarty! It is C-A-N-O-N. It does not matter whether someone ~~~intended to nominate them as separate characters, for LO THEY ARE NOT. Headcanons and preferences be damned.

Urgh, I didn't even care about Elementary in Yuletide before people started making WRONG DECISIONS in my canon. *pants*

Very ambiguous Vikings RPF. Because, you know, I'm sure the legendary viking Travis Fimmel is right up there next to Ivar the Boneless, Egill Skallagrímsson and Erik the Red. ;-)

IDK I thought tag review were for reviewing tags?!? so that when someone said "Vikings RPF means that tv show vikings" someone would look that show up on IMDB and realize that why yes Travis and George are indeed ACTORS who are alive in the present time.

I watched it, I loved it! I am not sure I have the whatsit to make individual episode reaction posts right now, though :( Also because it looks like I'll usually not have time before Saturday morning, at which point it's already old news in journal land.

Ah, but you're forgetting that this year the mods in their infinite wisdom have already cleverly investigated everything and decided what people really meant, but was clearly just too stupid to nominate properly - for some reason, they seem a bit surprised at how basically each and every "correction" they've made has been pointed out as a mistake. So I'm not really surprised (anyway, Imdb and Vikings do not mix well - the site has Lagertha listed as Lagertha Lothbrok and Bjorn ditto - I would not trust anything that site tells me about Vikings, it clearly doesn't know what it's talking about).

Clearly they can. And unlike the Gwen Stacy and Irene Adler issues, the mods doesn't seem to have changed it before opening sign-ups...

Right, to sign up and write letter and find a diplomatic way of saying "I know this character is a woobie fan favourite, but I belong in the camp that interprets him as an unrepentant serial rapist and an arsehole and the less of him the better".

Did I mention I've seen somebody not me asking for Otto Frello fanfic? Yay!

Yeah, it's really odd. Seems like this one would be simple to sort compared to some issues they've had to deal with.

Aw. Dam. Difficult. I need to find a fourth wish and write a letter too. (Two parts of which will be "just give me character A and I'll love you forever" - and a bit about hey I love those characters.) which non-woodie are we talking about?

At this point, I find myself having precious little respect for the Yuletide mods - and considering how little I ended up having last year... Anyway.

It's a bit difficult, yeah - I really don't want fic involving Anders from The Almighty Johnsons, but he's such a fan favourite that I don't even dare to offer the fandom, even though I love it and would like to write in it, for fear of getting matched to one of his fangirls (yes, I know I could just offer other characters, but, well, no). I'm requesting a specific character and I'm going to gush and maybe talk about a couple of others I like, but I do feel the need to mention it, somehow. Like I feel the need to point out that Rollo is not named Lothbrok, dammit in the part of my letter that will be about Vikings...

Pet peeves. I have them. *shrugs*

Yes it is *grins* - and a couple of people offering to write it, so it's very awesome. (There's the Signup Summary on AO3 - though I spotted it through tracking the Dear Yuletide Writer letter post.

Oh, thanks! I have so many tabs open now for Yuletide! *whine* And I had cleaned up so nicely recently *Sigh* (I get stressed by too many open tabs. It's really annoying.)
