First and foremost, dear Yulegoat, thank you so much for writing a story for me. You are an awesome human being (or possibly an awesome AI secretly writing fanfic on the interwebs - you never know, do you?) and I am so excited to have you writing for me :-)

Alright. So, I'm going to start of with a couple of lists - one of my general likes and one of my dislikes and squicks. Afterwards, I'm going through my requests in alphabetical order, expanding, gushing, chatting about what I like and maybe what I don't like in each canon (and in the two that have existing fandoms, I'll be mentioning personal pet peeves in existing fic).

Basically, I am a firm believer in trying to give people all the information they could possibly need (and possibly more than they want - ah well).

Oh, one thing: I ramble a lot about my Vikings request - this does not mean that I want it more than my other requests. It's just that - as you will no doubt notice if you cyberstalk me a bit - Vikings is my current primary active fandom, so I have a lot of thoughts and plotbunnies and things. But I do honestly want each and every one of these. I mean, I wouldn't have six requests if I didn't, you know?

Anyway.

Things I generally like in fic: slash and gen; plot; snark; fluff; happy endings; awesome characters being awesome; crack; twisty plots; surprises.
Dislikes & squicks: non-con; a/b/o, seme/uke, sub/dom and any and all similar power dynamic tropes; very kinky sex (heavy bdsm, watersport, etc.); underage; kidfic; bestiality; mpreg; pwp; genderswap; incest; OC love interests; full-scale AUs (you know, like high school or coffee shop?).

On to the requests:

The Almighty Johnsons
Olaf Johnson

Basically, I'd like all the Grandpa Olaf fic, because he fascinates me as a character, and I really think the show has never used him to the fullest (though I am enjoying him as an unreliable narrator in Gods Among Us). I mean, he's 90+ years old - imagine all the things he's seen and done. Where has he been, who has he met (Methos? Helen Magnus? Steve Rogers?). Tell me stories about him - how was it like to be a brand new Baldr and fighting in a war against the Nazis (and their crazy Norse myth fanboyism)? He mentions having seen a god die before - who? When and why did he start surfing and doing drugs? How did he meet Tigilau? Or you can go post-season 3 - does he end up in a happy OT3 with Ingrid and Stacy (yes please)? How does he cope with aging and mortality?

So, yeah, basically, all the Grandpa Olaf fic. If you're not feeling inspired by that, well, my favourite of the Johnson brothers is Mike and I'd like a story focusing on him as well (even if he spent most of season three being an asshole and not my favourite - he got better?). Mike being BFFs with George from the Maori gods, the story of the first time Mike met his "cousin" after becoming Ullr, or you could write me the Colin/Mike fic the world desperately needs? (Yes, I ship them - I'm convinced Colin has a crush: He gives him a bar! He creepily watches him have sex! He saves his life! He has conversations with him when he isn't there! - okay, season 3 depressed me right up until the end.). Other than Olaf and Mike, well, I like Colin (gleefull god of tricky fuckers that he is), Agnetha, George (I really missed the Maori gods in season three). Least favourite character in the show is Anders - which I'm pointing out specifically because he's become such a fan favourite and so many people seem to think of him as a poor woobie, and, well, let's just say that I really, really don't agree with that interpretation in any way, shape or form and leave it at that.

Crazy Christmas Cabaret - London Toast Theatre
Any

Do you know what would be awesome? A Viking themed Crazy Christmas Cabaret tale, that would be awesome. With Dr. van Helsingør and his mangled Danglish, and the Dame in full-scale Wagner valkyrie mode, and historically incorrect horned helmets and lurs, and bad puns and maybe an abducted English monk and everything. That would be awesome.

Okay, so I am currently having a Viking themed thing myself, there's no denying. Before that, I had a more piratical themed thing, so I'd also love an Age of Sail/Pirates themed story. Or, if you're not up to thinking up an entirely new CCC world - well, I have seen every cabaret since 2000's Spaced Out (and I have tickets for this year's, so yay!). Some (Dracula - or a pain in the neck (2003), Bored of the rings (2006)) have been better than others (Look No Hans (2005)), but that's the thing about annual shows. What I'm trying to say, I'm not picky - feel free to set the story in any of the shows 2000 and forward. I'm quite fond of the good doctor, but there's been plenty of one-off characters I liked too: the relationship between Legoklods and Arrogant, David Bateson's ex-Nazi officer who will slam his heels and say thank you anytime he gets boo'ed, Vivienne McKee's Lola Lieberdich. Just - give me a Crazy Christmas Cabaret story, dear Author - give me anything and everything and may the hygge be with you.

Freddy & Monstrene - Dennis Jürgensen
Freddy
I'd love a story about Freddy as a grown-up - possibly having finally convinced/been convinced that no, he didn't run around with a bunch of monsters as a boy - reencountering the gang. Though truth be told, I'll love you to bits for almost anything in this fandom.

I loved these books as a kid. I must have read them 20 times or something. But the implications of the ending saddens me - the monsters have gone off to live in Transsylvania and Freddy is an 11-year-old boy left in an mundane world that already views his Hammer Horror fanboyisness as something odd, and he has nothing except a couple of tiny newspaper articles to prove that anything happened. And he's 11 - even if he doesn't end up saying the wrong thing and spending the next decade in therapy (because what's more realistic - a kid getting molested by a teacher at camp or a kid flying away to China on a burping dragon with Dracula for company and meeting the Yeti?) I imagine his childhood adventures will just - fade. And then he meets the monsters again...

If that story idea doesn't catch you, dear Yulegoat, I do really mean it when I say I'll love to bits almost anything. It's a nostalgia fandom for me, this one. I quite enjoyed Dracula and Eddie the werewolf always being snarky and Sir Arthur being sensible - basically the chosen family dynamics of the monsters. Or you could write me a crossover with Krøniker fra Kvæhl - maybe Freddy meet Arnold and Catharina during that aforementioned therapy? Or... basically, anything.

Lig og laurbær - Kim Marthedal
Adam Rasmussen, Troy Anthonsen

Post-canon fluff. Post-canon curtain fic. Post-canon figuring out how to work as a couple. Basically, happy not-bloody-Scandinavian-noir post-canon fic.

I adore this book. Don't get me wrong, it's not a sophisticated piece of literature, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Adam and Troy meeting and somehow managing to become an item - in between the serial killer plotline and Adam occasionally being frightfully obtuse - I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the slow, falling into each other story and Troy being just enough protective alpha male without ever being too much and basically, I just want it to continue. Do Adam keep living at Troy's house now that the serial killer has been caught? How's their first Christmas together? Is Adam going to stumble all across Troy's life next? Is Adam ever going to be the one to fuck Troy? Tell me everything, dear Yulegoat :-)

Paintings - Otto Frello
Any

I adore this painter's work - have for years - and I'd love to know what's going on. Is this a fantasy world, magical and mystical? Is it science fiction? Another planet? Another dimension? Our world on the other side of a singularity? A utopia?

Okay, so I was the one nominating this - which means that the four nominated characters are basically the one's I'm most interested in. The last human being gazing out at us - what happened here? What are the ruins behind her? Why does she seem to be smiling? The surprised-looking 19th century gentleman from Københavnerbillede (he's the guy in the top hat to the right of the horse, looking at a 20th century fellow with a briefcase - the details are easier to see in this version - what's going on here? Are they ghosts, all the people and houses from different times gathering at Amagertorv? Has time come unstuck? How do they cope? I'd love some cross-temporal culture shock for this one. The curious sea serpent from Sofastykke - well, it's just adorable. Also, the picture is gorgeous beyond belief - what is this place? And finally, the mother of the recurring family - and I say mother, but honestly? Is she? Are they even related? Why are they travelling? Where are they going? Are they tourists? Tell me their tale?

If none of these specific characters grab you, well, feel free to tell me a story of one or more of Otto Frello's other paintings (well, maybe not Billum kirkes apsis.) Tell me of the cities and places and people. Always the people. My only not-want is that - and if you're not familiar with Copenhagen, you might not notice - some of the paintings are fantastical versions of real places. For instance, Københavnerbillede shows Amagertorv. If you pick one those paintings, well, I just don't want them not be that place, if you know what I mean? I'd rather they didn't turn into some random fantastical location. But apart from that, go wild.

Vikings
Rollo

Here's a truth: I adore Rollo. Yes, he is big and mean and nasty and grumpy, but - he is so much more. The character I see is interesting. Yes, he can be unpleasant - but he can also be kind and he is loyal, especially within a group (gods help you, though, if you're not in the group - then there's obviously no guarantees of anything, as that poor slavegirl found out, but that's not the aspect I'm interested in) - loyal to family, loyal to his warband. Loyal to his brother - and yes, I do believe he's loyal and until I see an actual knife in Ragnar's back, I will maintain that they've used that ruse before. Does he have issues - oh, tons, with his younger brother always being the one everybody looks to and who got the girl and everything. I just don't think that is enough to ultimately compromise his loyalty. Anyway, basically I just want all the Rollo fic. What does he do? I mean, yes, he's a Viking, but that was a part-time thing - Ragnar's a farmer, Floki's a shipwright - what does Rollo do? Is he a trader? A craftman? A weaponsmith, perhaps? Is he an ulfhednar? Or you could write me some (consensual) Rollo/Athelstan fic (or Rollo & Athelstan), because I'd love to see those two interacting more - maybe a story where Rollo's family loyalty is shown to extend to this odd addition to Ragnar's household? Or a tale of Rollo deciding to learn more about this new god he all but swore himself to and proceeding to freaking out poor Athelstan by taking to stalking him? Or maybe just Rollo hugging Athelstan? I don't know why, but I suspect Rollo-hugs must be awesome.

If Rollo (or the way I view him) doesn't catch you, well, I'd like a story about Lord Aethelwulf as well - poor, doomed Lord Aethelwulf. Maybe a story about how it was to be a captive of a bunch of strange barbarians from his POV, only able to talk to the one of them and look, is that a woman warrior? Or maybe an AU where Ragnar mutilated a corpse and dressed it up in Aethelwulf's armour and proceeded to take the Englishman home to add to his collection - how would Aethelwulf - a far more worldwise character than Athelstan - adjust to life in Scandinavia? How would he react to Athelstan? For that matter, how would Athelstan react to him? If that doesn't strike you, either, well, I do adore Athelstan. How about a story of him not being fluent in Norse from the word go (that always did strike me as unrealistic, him knowing the language and none of the culture)? Maybe something about Athelstan exploring the more intellectual sides of the Norse - the runes, the poetry, the law? Or you could write me the story that I am frankly amazed doesn't already exist, namely him saying "yes" to Lagertha and Ragnar in that scene - maybe he doesn't think he truly has a choice (a little dub-con is fine, but I never did see him as not tempted - just scared and a monk and clinging to his celibacy and his religion in a strange and scary place), maybe Ragnar pushes just that bit more... Or you could write a crossover (a real crossover, not a fusion) with Sons of Anarchy, because I find the thought of a bunch of 8th century Vikings running around with a bunch of 21st century bikers amusing (also, Travis Fimmel and Charlie Hunnam are clearly long-lost twins).

Okay, I've rambled a bit about this fandom now, so please bear with me just a bit longer. I adore Vikings and most of the characters in it - as you can probably see if you take a look around my journal and AO3 account and tumblr. That said, I do have a couple of pet peeves in this fandom. In general, I dislike stories that swap in random medieval and/or fantasy things that isn't Norse - this show does have huge issues with geography and chronology, but it's still supposed to be Norse. Also, anachronisms - I mean, yes, the show seems to be taking nearly 300 years of history and compressing it and I can live with that, but - look, an example: everytime someone talks about paper in a Vikings fanfic I cringe, because it wasn't until centuries after the end of the Viking age that paper even came to Europe - people used parchment and vellum back then. It's a stupid thing, a minor thing. My major pet peeve in this fandom, though (and I've actually found it to be enough in itself to make me backbutton): He is not Rollo Lothbrok. She is not Lagertha Lothbrok. He is not Bjorn Lothbrok. Yes, I know Imdb says so - Imdb is wrong. Ragnar Lothbrok is the only Lothbrok. It is a not a family name, not a last name, not something he can pass on - it's a personal nickname, an earned name (probably not through dragonslaying in this version). Please don't apply it to anyone else - besides, Rollo has enough issues with this baby brother surpassing him at every turn without being referred to by his brother's nickname too...
