It's morning, I am sitting here appropriately dressed in my nice Tiny Viking t-shirt and finally - finally - the wait is over. I should probably prepare myself to be traumatized...

796. So - 793: raid Lindisfarne. 794: King's ransom. 795: Uppsala in the spring, Borg in the winter. Hey, my chronology was basically right.

Floki? Nobody likes people telling them: I told you so.

Oh, bloody hell, don't tell me they're doing the "berserkers took magic mushrooms" thing. It's just as much a figment of the 19th century as the horned helmets, for fucks sake. (Okay, 18th century - some Swedish fellow by the name of Samuel Ödmann shared a theory and next thing you know, everybody believes it - and I'm getting distracted from the show...)

Borg? No need to be rude.

Oh, Rollo. Ragnar, dammit, give him a hug. (Okay, maybe not.)

Wait, so Ragnar knows about Gyda's death. Are we not going to see anybody get the news about anything in this show?

Getting defensive, Ragnar?

Awww, Ragnar still loves his brother. Family values, boys and girls. (Though a proper trial by test - jernbyrd or something - would have been awesome to see).

What's with the goats? Do they symbolize something (other than the crew pillaging a petting zoo? No, wait - season 1 had Gyda with the goats and now Gyda is dead. Ragnar petting the goats is Ragnar missing Gyda. Of course!)

Uhm, Lagertha - I am very much on your side in all this, but "did not imagine you could cook?" "I can't" and then offended face? Aslaug is not to blame for being of royal blood and having been raised as a princess (presumably). She's to blame for many things, but not what skills she has or has not learned.

You know, I kinda like how Aslaug - the princess - is being ingratiating and seems prepared to accept a place as second wife, which would implicitly put her below Lagertha the peasant born (though really, in Gesta Danorum, Lagertha was of Norwegian royal blood herself - nevermind).

But I love beyond measure that Lagertha is the one to choose to leave Ragnar (I don't want her to go, but still). Though I would have liked her to have done it by standing up in the middle of the hall and saying: I divorce you - oh well, you can't have everything.

Anyway, to sum up: All the feels. All the Rollo feels, all the Gyda feels, all the Lagertha feels. Not nearly enough Athelstan, though - barely glimpses of him allowing you to guess at his thoughts.

And HBO Nordic is not putting up the episode until later, and won't have time to watch it and look for cut scenes before sunday at the earliest. Dammit.
