It was snowing just a little while ago, the air filled with tiny white snowflakes. Most of it has already melted and the rest is well on its way - nonetheless, it was the first snow I have seen so far this fall (it hailed yesterday, but that doesn´t really count). So, I suppose that means it is winter now.

My mother used to tell me about snow when I was a little girl, a story that she had been told once, though she cannot remember when or who told it to her. She told me, that when it snows, it is because raindrops are just like the rest of us. When it gets cold, they freeze - and like the sensible, little raindrops they are, they find their big, white fur coats at the back of the wardrobe and put them on before going out. And so you have snow. I was always rather fond of that image - raindrops in fur coats.

Oh, and while I wrote this it started snowing again...
