Susanne Clod Pedersen: Veulf
I think I like this better than the first (and I can definitely see why the new editions have just put them together as one book, the first in apparently a long series) - partly because Arnulf feels like he's growing up and is less of a brat, partly because the plot doesn't give him a lot of time to be a brat or any characters that would indulge that behaviour for a second. Not that the Jomsvikings are that good an environment (Toxic Masculinity 101, anyone?), but I suppose it's all part of growing up viking.
Joseph Fink & Cramer: Welcome to Night Vale
Hvad skoven skjuler: danske fantasynoveller
Niviaq Korneliussen: Homo sapienne
So, a short novel about the trials and tribulations of five young, queer people in modern day Greenland. Sounded better than it turned out to be. I mean, the idea is solid, it's just that I don't find young queer people having relationship dramas in original fiction more interesting than young not-queer people, so...

Raise your hand, if you think Archeth is going to be Empress within a year of the end of the novel.

Happy New Year. And what a disappointingly low number - *checks stats* - lowest since I started counting. What the hell am I doing wrong?

How do you like Svetlana Alexievich? I'm thinking of nominating one of her books for book-club-at-work. Also, did you like Liv Strömqvist?

Liv Strömquist? I quite liked "Kunskapens frukt" - it was interesting and informative and wellwritten. "Ja till liv!" less so - mostly because a lot of it was very tied to Swedish politics that I am not familiar with in the specifics, and then there were other bits were I really wanted to argue with her, So. I'd happily read more of her work. Sadly, at the moment those two seems to be the only ones available through the Danish library system...
Svetlana Alexievich? Like? Please bear in mind that this is a book giving a lot of first person accounts of a nuclear disaster. I'm not sure it's likable. Try haunting. Or possibly the spookiest horror story I'm reading in 2016. It's well-written and just - I'm glad I've already requested her book about women soldiers from the library as well. But I am not sure "like" is something this book calls for, and since I've got nothing else to rate her on so far - but you'd definitely have a lot to talk about at book-club.
