Just came home from watching Deadpool. It is an excellent Deadpool-ish movie and I heartily recommend it.
And I loved all the references to the comics - Blind Al! Bob!!! (I hope Wade didn't kill him there). And the fourth wall breaking was done well. It was fun.
Mind you, I halfway imagine the movie was kinda Deadpool's wishful dream - he's not a cheap Wolverine knock-off, his healing is his own power activated through nasty/evil science; the X-men are begging him to join their boyband; the girl still wants him even after he turned into Freddy Krueger's uglier half (also, the romance in the movie is actually quite sweet).
I did worry that the humour would hit the wrong buttons for me, but I laughed. Oh dear.
Also, remember to stay for the after credits scene: Kiera Knightley forPresident Cable! Okay, I'm conflicted, because Cable/Deadpool is an adorably fucked-up slash OTP for me, but really, get Kiera to play Cable. Please?
