Requests
Freddy & Monstrene - Dennis Jürgensen
Freddy
I'd love a story about Freddy as a grown-up - possibly having finally convinced himself/been convinced that no, he didn't run around with a bunch of monsters as a boy - reencountering the gang. Though truth be told, I'll love you to bits for almost anything in this fandom.
This is a repeat request, because I hold out hope that some year somebody will wander by, know Danish and want to write me fanfic about a set of silly children's novels from the 80s, about an 11-year-old horror fanboy making friends with a bunch of monster straight out of the Hammer horror films and having weird adventures with them.
I loved these books as a kid. I must have read them 20 times or something. But the implications of the ending saddens me - the monsters have gone off to live in Transylvania and Freddy is an 11-year-old boy left in a mundane world that already views his Hammer horror fanboyishness as something odd, and he has nothing except a couple of tiny newspaper articles to prove that anything happened. And he's 11 - even if he doesn't end up saying the wrong thing and spending the next decade in therapy (because what's more realistic - a kid getting molested by a teacher at camp or a kid flying away to China on a burping dragon with Dracula for company and meeting the Yeti?) I imagine his childhood adventures will just - fade. And then he meets the monsters again...
If that story idea doesn't catch you, dear Yulegoat, I do really mean it when I say I'll love to bits almost anything. It's a nostalgia fandom for me, this one. I quite enjoyed Dracula and Eddie the werewolf always being snarky and Sir Arthur being sensible - basically the chosen family dynamics of the monsters. Or you could write me a crossover with Krøniker fra Kvæhl (the original version, not whatever Jürgensen changed in the new editions with the wrong, wrong, wrong cover art - sorry, that went off on a tangent) - maybe Freddy meet Arnold and Catharina during that aforementioned therapy? Or maybe a missing story set before the last of the novels, giving us the backstory of Eddie, perhaps - why is the rock'n'roll loving werewolf not running with a pack of bloodthirsty feral beasts, or Sir Arthur (a visit to a nice haunted castle on a gloomy moor?), or... basically, anything. Go for it.
Heatwaves: An Erotic Space Odyssey - Rebecca Silver
Buck, Garima
For this canon, I would like some expansion on what little we know about the novel. How did Garima the alien warrior queen and Buck meet? Who is the villain threatening Garima? How do they end up making love on the sun and don't die in the process? We've seen a Garima - how is the book version different? She's a queen, show me how she goes about her royal duties. What does it even mean to be a queen in her culture? What is her culture - the novel's setting? Space opera? Standard old school planetary romance in the mold of Burroughs? Something more modern? And Buck - is he just a Mick Rory self-insert, or is he a Buck Rogers clone in the novel, or does Mick possibly write his male characters like he writes his female characters, aka as somebody he himself would find really hot, with traits blatantly stolen from wherever he feels like?
Fandom specific DNWs: Heatwaves characters getting dragged out of the book to appear in the Legends verse, or Legends characters somehow ending up inside Mick's book.
For anybody not familiar and searching in vain on Amazon, this is a canon within another canon, originating in the tv show DC's Legends of Tomorrow. It's a book written by supervillain/pyromaniac/time traveller Mick Rory, who in recent seasons have turned into a successful romance writer on the nom de plume Rebecca Silver. If you're not familiar with the show, most of the revealed tidbits about the novel in question can be found on its page in the Arrowverse wiki.
I did enjoy the brief appearances Garima has made in the tv show, though judging by how various characters have reacted to Mick's writing, I suspect she was a not-quite-perfect rendition of a character. Always the risk, when book characters appear in tv shows, of course.
Anyway, I admit that this request is definitely for a five minute canon (even if those five minutes are a bit scattered), but I'd still like to see whatever you make of it.
Fremvandrerne | Beforeigners (TV)
Alfhildr Enginnsdóttir, Navn Ukjent, Urðr Sighvatsdóttir
So, this tv show is built entirely around one of my favourite tropes, namely characters from the past finding themselves in the present and having to deal with it. And that's really my biggest want from this request: I'd love to see my two favourite shieldmaidens and my favourite Mesolithic crime boss pre-show, having to adjust to finding themselves in 21st century Norway. When did Alfhildr decide to become a cop? How did Navn meet his wife? How did learning modern Norwegian go? Adjusting to the changes in cultural norms? Give me all sorts of temporal culture shocks, basically. Alternatively, I would also love a canon divergence AU, where a canonical death doesn't happen.
Feel free to treat this request as an or match as far as characters are concerned. You don't need to include all of them in your fic.
Fandom specific DNW: un-canonical anachronisms, ie. the show has the Beforeigners appearing in Norway coming from three specific time periods, and not just general periods, but fairly specific times, for instance, it's not just the Viking Age, it's the time right after the Battle of Stiklestad. So I basically don't want characters suddenly appearing from different time periods, nor do I want you to attempt to squish entire time periods together, the way for instance Vikings have been doing.
For those unfamiliar with this show, it's a Norwegian HBO show, where people from three specific past time periods start popping up in the sea off the coast of Norway. Well, they pop op all over the world and presumably from many other time periods (it seems to be a wandering phenomenon), but this is a Norwegian show, so we get to see Oslo, primarily. A few years later, Oslo has a growing minority of Beforeigners (yes, there are some heavy-handed refugee metaphors going on) more or less succesfully adapting to a radically changed world. It's also a buddy cop show, as the main characters are a former shieldmaiden who has just become the first Beforeigner policewoman and her modern day partner, and there's a murder to solve.
Anyway, as mentioned, the entire show is built around one of my all time favourite tropes - past people stuck in the present and having to cope - so really. Give me more of that and I'll be thrilled. And I've requested my three favourite Beforeigners (and I'm still upset that they've already killed off two of them, so fix-it fic is very welcome - Navn had so much villain potential and Urðr was delightful).
深夜食堂 | Shinya Shokudo | Midnight Diner (TV)
Kenzaki Ryu, Kosuzu
I'd like something focusing on these two and their friendship. I'm not so much looking for slash for this pairing, more their slightly odd friendship - Kosuzu and Ryu helping each other out, other people's reactions, etc. Although, if you do have any ideas for a slash fic, I will definitely not be disappointed.
Another repeat request, because it's a delightful show and I'm the sort of person who only changes my preferences slowly, so - hope springs eternal.
I originally came across this show on Netflix, fell in like and managed to track down the first three seasons. I like the quiet, often (but not always) feel-good mood and the small slice of life dramas of the show. Also the food. And the characters: the Master, his more or less peculiar regulars - they all seem nice and interesting.
And yeah, I like Ryu and Kosuzu and their friendship. I'd like to see more of it, one way or another. Maybe a rival group of yakuza try to shake down Kosuzu's bar? Maybe Ryu needs somewhere to hide for a few days? Maybe, for reasons that don't need to be explored at this moment, they end up going on holiday to the same nice hot springs? If that's not inspiring you, I wouldn't object to fic focusing on the Master - his past, where did he get that scar, for instance? Or maybe a story mixing the usual slice-of-life drama of the show with a supernatural element - maybe there's a kitsune regular we haven't met yet? Or a crossover with "Samurai Gourmet"? That's a cute show, and I could easily see Takeshi and his wife on vacation and stumbling into the restaurant more or less by accident. Or Good Omens, if you're willing to do a crossover with a too-big-for-Yuletide fandom, because you know Aziraphale would love the diner.
One more thing: Netflix has, with impeccable timing, just released a second/fifth season of the show, and so far, I've only had time to watch two of the episodes. I'll write an ETA if anything happens that I feel I should mention how I'd like my writer to deal with, but if I don't, just assume I'll have watched the whole thing long before reveals.
