I feel so proud. And pissed off. I'm conflicted. (But it is kinda like a fannish rite-of-passage, isn't it?)
Anyway, there's a tumblr post that explains it far better than I can and I think you might want to go take a look, because I did a few checks and there's several people I know. It looks like they're bot-harvesting from AO3 and AO3/OTW seems to be on the case, but still.

I notice they've got a lot of scientific articles too, which makes me think they're scrapping some of the non-paywall journal sites. I kind of want to track where those are from and sic the academic press on that site.

Seriously, if they thought no one would notice, or most people would be stopped by the thought of lawyers' fees, they shouldn't have stolen stuff from the commercial publishing industry. Which has lawyers on staff at most of the US publishing houses; I'm not sure about the academic presses, but hmm, universities often have *law schools*.
