Well, on one hand is a very good thing women can defend themselves from unwanted assault. But the device seems to me a bit barbaric. Mind you, not for men (he who attempts a rape deserves this and worse!), but for the women who must use it. A rape cannot be foreseen, and think of going around everyday with that *thing* inside... *shudders* On a more serious and practical note, especially with respect to HIV prevention: people in Africa have already trouble in getting traditional condoms. I fear the poorest ones (who, sadly, are the great majority and also those exposed to the highest risk, both of sexual violence and infection) will never have the means to get this new (but without doubt more expensive) device.
